Pelosi: Ethics, Nepotism and Doublespeak

Dear Leader Nancy Pelosi has a problem. It's her credibility. While claiming to support legislation that would make it illegal to hire family members onto campaign staffs, it seems that she has been paying her husband nearly $100,000 over the past 9 years for doing just that.

Pelosi paid husband with PAC funds

Financial Leasing Services Inc. (FLS), owned by Paul F. Pelosi, has received $99,000 in rent, utilities and accounting fees from the speaker's "PAC to the Future" over the PAC's nine-year history.

Now strictly speaking, what Pelosi is doing isn't illegal. But it is the height (or depth) of hypocrisy. Here is Nancy in her own words.

"Democrats are committed to reforming the way Washington does business," Mrs. Pelosi said in a press release at the time. "Congressman [Adam] Schiff's bill will help us accomplish that goal by increasing transparency in election campaigns and preventing the misuse of funds."

And when questioned about the impropriety of hiring her own husband, Pelosi hid behind the law.

Last week, Mrs. Pelosi's office said the payments to her husband's firm were perfectly legal, insisting she is compensating her husband at fair market value for the work his firm has performed for the PAC. But ethical watchdogs said the arrangement sends the wrong message.

Yes Nancy, it may be perfectly legal but what message are you sending the country when you ignore the spirit of the legislation you once claimed you support? How much confidence can anyone have in anything you say when you say one thing yet do another?

Leaders are supposed to lead.

It is a shame Pelosi is not investigated for her cronyism. She is one of the worst. Bad thing is, that is what tends to rise to the top in both parties. Who can get ya the most.

It is a blight on the American electorate when they choose to vote for who promises more than who does what is right to build and strenthen the nation.

I'm sure the Republicans will have nothing to say about this. Just like their total disinterest in the political gift they were given with Charlie Rangel’s tax embezzlement scandal.

I’ll tell you what’s a shame, that our framers didn’t build in a recall clause for congress. That is a cryin’ shame. I know about 200 congressmen we could probably get recalled next week if it were constitutional.

They should have built in term limits. Nothing else will work.
