The piece of excrement that passed the Senate last night was another orgy in the mud for those sows on Capitol Hill. They are nothing but a bunch of crack-whores who simply cannot resist spending hundreds of millions of dollars of our money on ridiculous projects in a time of economic hardship. And the only unanswered question is what the hell do these projects have to do with bailing out the mortgage industry that the Democrats f'ed up in the first place.
This bill is a made-to-order issue for McCain. He is not the president, so he had to vote for the bill. But had he been in the White House, he could have simply said that any bailout bill that arrives with a dime of pork will be vetoed. Clear that issue right up front, especially in a time of economic hardship, and make good on the threat.
So, Senator, let's see that omnipresent campaign promise to "name their names and make them famous" in action. Here is a partial list and a line next to each for the sponsoring Senator's name.

Maverick tossed his pork busting credentials out with his bailout vote. That’s the reason core principles are what’s important.
I think McCain really meant maverick, the TV show.
But, But.... companies need tax breaks for people who ride their tricycles to work.
Uh, no, he did not. He could have given a floor speech against the "special interest" pork in the bill, and with the conviction of his beliefs voted against the porcine laden steaming pile of legislation.
Gotta be Stevens
It wouldn’t make much difference if he did. All anyone would ask him is, “Then why did you vote for it?”
***crickets***
Make ‘em famous, John... or your words will be hollow..
I think people are confusing what one can do while campaigning and what one can do while governing.
Ho hum, except for the bright light in Sarah, we are getting just what we knew we were getting, a fence sitting moderate without much for core beliefs except perhaps the war and abortion. Oh I’m sorry, fence sitter should translate as bipartisan maverick.
The vietnam war killed him inside. I don’t have any other explanation for his bizarre behavior that is about 180 degrees from any direction I’m headed in. If it wasn’t for Sarah who may pay a heavy price being associated with the Senator, I would consider things pretty much over.
Maybe I’m expecting too much?
Well yes, but didn’t the maverick go back to the Senate and govern? I must have missed something with the title “Senator McCain”. Even a Senate floor speech would have been nice.
Hey he could have said, conditions are so dire in order to get the votes I gotta eat this giant load of crap, instead ... nutting honey.
I particularly like the carbon taxes added that Pelosi talked about today ... The next big liberal failure on the way.
I’m still voting conservative.
how is he gonna splain this after railing obama on friday about not supporting pork?
He better find his voice and start hitting back with some cold hard facts. His “now is not the time to blame, but to fix the problem” blah, blah remark made me want to hurl.
If he doesn’t educate the idiot masses on why we are in this fix, then he doesn’t deserve to be President - period.
Yep, that’s the problem when you have no first principles. You have no rudder. Maverick is going to need a new horse, because when the Democrats finish blaming Republicans for the bailout ... And why exactly doesn’t he name names there?
I’m not saying McCain has handled this correctly. I just think there are many different types of constraints in the five weeks before a closely contested presidential election than there would be in the White House.
For one thing, McCain is very vulnerable to his colleagues up on the Hill, who can go in front of mic and say and do all kind of garbage to hurt his campaign while he’s slogging way at a BBQ in Ohio.
He doesn’t have nearly the ways to watch his back as he would if President, or even if he were in D.C. full-time right now. And the stakes are very high: if he does not get elected, his “speaking out” is worthless. (Of course, those two are inversely connected as well.)
Also it seems to me that sooner the economy stops dominating the public discussion, the sooner that discussion can start helping McCain and hurting Obambi. That becomes even more urgent with the election so close.
Further, believe it or not, most of the public has no clue what an “earmark” is or what the hell’s bells they might have to do with saving this country from the Great Depression II. What I’m saying is that “going there” for McCain would just get him so bogged down in the weeds that, at this point and time, he couldn’t extricate himself in time to actually campaign against Obambi. This is such an easy issue to demigogue.
I agree with you that the bill has problems. I don’t necessarily agree that McCain has no good reason for sidestepping this issue now, getting this mess behind him, and opening some daylight for him to start attacking Obambi-—the person he actually is running against (as opposed to Congress)-—again.
P.S. I wanted to make clear that I agreed with this.
You watch, the day after the bailout crap passes, the blame Republicans will start.
Who is this “conservative” you speak of?
Let’s not only send our bills to the White House, let’s send them to McCain, too.
