Will The Democrats Have A Filibuster-Proof Senate
American Sentinel ^ | October 9, 2008 | jay1949

The Democratic Party announced this spring a major drive to elect a “filibuster-proof” 60-seat-majority Senate. According to the recent Democratic National Committee newsfeeds, the DNC is confident of picking up six seats and hopeful of getting nine. Will that make a Democratic-controlled Senate “filibuster-proof?”

Six seats is a lot to pick up.
However, if Obama wins, he'll pick up some seats with him. Folks voting for him are voting party line.

A McCain resurgence will neuter those efforts.

Considering that Joe Lieberman has been publicly scorned by many Democrats, it would be very ironic if he would be the 60th vote needed for breaking filibusters.

You figure he will be evicted from the Democrat Senate caucus, if he hasn’t been already, because they won’t need his vote to have a Senate majority after November’s election. But, maybe they will have to be nice to him to hope that he will be their filibuster breaking vote.

It might all depend on the issue being debated. For example, on a bill to prompt speedy withdrawal from Iraq, regardless of consequences, Joe might want to side with Republicans. Stay tuned.

How about we try to avoid this. All of you in states with Senate elections this year, please vote Republican, and deny those Democrats their filibuster-proof Senate.

More and more I’m beginning to think ‘fiscal’ disobedience as the conservative weapon to use against a despotic Democratic triumvirate (WH, Congress and Judiciary). A government that cannot collect those monthly and quarterly tax payments reliably will falter very, very quickly, especially in these troubled times.

As the Corsi information starts to come out and the deeper connections between Obama and Ayers dating back to actually the late 80’s, I think he is toast.

Oh I left out the RICO investigation into ACORN and the Obama campaign by the same DOJ lawyer handling Rezco who just agreed to help the Feds.

I think they do already - I'm not recalling any Great Republican Filibusters of 2007 and 2008.

In fact, I think they had one from 2001-2006, too.

Hope you are correct.

Some predict riots whether or not O wins, can you imagine the circumstances if O is busted before the election?

It appears frm what was on talk radio last night that Corsi has the O’s real birth cert. if so that is a really big problem for O.

Also he has emails from O written from his senate email account detailing how his cousin was to set up his election and sent him 1 million dollars. Strange ACORN is missing that very same amount! If this is true it violates the Logan Act.

If Obama wins the election, the Dems gain a filibuster proof majority in the Senate and The Supreme Court goes further LEFT, this nation is done!

That’s when you’ll start to see the uprisings and the revolts...

But then again, maybe that’s what it will take for americans to WAKE UP! Unfortunately, most Americans are more concerned with who’s “Dancing With the Stars” and who’s going to be the next “American Idol”, than with how Barack Obama and his friends are going to change this country for the WORSE!

Those Americans willing to vote for Obama DESERVE whatever they get!!!

The consequences of “compassionate” conservatism rears its ugly head. Next time, stick with the “Leave Me Alone” coalition.

They already have a filibuster-proof Senate. Our Republican Senators have shown an overwhelming propensity for giving the Democrats whatever they want. There are only five or six Republican Senators (e.g. Cornyn, Coburn, Enzi) that are worth a damn. The rest (including my two RINOs) are collaborators.

I cannot thing of a single time since the Democrats took control of the Senate that the Republicans have blocked a bill using the cloture rule.

Glenn Beck talked on this the other day. Close races where conservatives need more $ from us.

mine (Norm) would be on that list(if he were a conservative)

Joe Lieberman May Save America

If current polls hold and are true, in January we will have President Obama, 255-265 Dems in the House, and 55-59 Dems in the Senate. That leaves a very slim margin of Senate Republicans to keep the United States from being converted to a 21st century Third Reich of press censorship, Obama Youth Corps thugs, the end of private gun ownership, open oppression of Jews and evangelical Christians (I can’t wait for the Jews voting for Obama to wake-up and smell the kristalnacht), a gutting of the US armed forces, a “redistribution” (theft) of the money you earn, and the end to talk radio through The Fairness Doctrine (which will muzzle conservative broadcasts but somehow leave 100% liberal organs untouched).

With a razor-thin edge of 41-45 Republican senators, a filibuster stop to Obama’s fascist agenda is uncertain. Enter Joe Lieberman, a man who publicly backs McCain and was the victim of an attempt to destroy him for putting national security ahead of Leftist anti-Americanism. He has caucused with the Dems but may end-up giving the Repubs an additional vote to filibuster. And his leadership in doing so might give enough of a spine transplant to Repubs to encourage them to hold the line on an Administration that will try to force a treaty of friendship with Iran and have Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright to state dinners at The White House.
