A liberal friend asked me why I am so afraid of an Obama presidency. My answer was to point out the incredible damage our country has suffered and is still suffering from due to the blunders of previous liberal presidents. These blunders sometimes take years to become apparent and decades or generations to overcome. I don’t know if we will ever get over the damage caused by Kennedy and Johnson’s Vietnam adventure. President Carter’s naive blunder and foolishness concerning Iran substituted a dictator who liked us with ones who hate us, and unleashed the fury of Muslim terrorism on an America they now saw as weak and cowardly.

Carter also gave away our Panama Canal. The terms of the agreement dictated that the USA had the unilateral option to renew it for another 99 years. The canal is a huge money maker for the Republic of Panama. I have gone through twice, the most recent in Feb. this year, and made it with only a few minor problems. Even the locals say it ain’t like it was when the gringo’s were here. Oh well!
I attended Air Force Comm Officer's School at Keesler AFB in 1966. We had foreign officers who attended US Military schools and one of my classmates was Mohammed! He was an Iranian Captain who was marked for advancement because he came from a very wealthy family who were the majority stockholders in Iranian Tel & Tel. We would meet with all the other students at the Stag Bar where we watched Batman, drank beer and "studied". Mohammed was Muslim so he drank Coke but would buy us our usual libations. we asked him about his country and he told us that the Shah's view of the future was magnificent.
The Shah wanted to improve his economy by developing industrial concerns which would use their oil to produce the petroleum products which were worth more. Sell a barrel of oil from a producing well and the labor content is minimal. For example, take the oil and make styrofoam cups and you would employ more people who would be manufacturing these secondary petro products.
President Carter replaced this idea with the 7th century Ayatollahs and what do you get? Imadumbjob!
