Obama is Now a Conservative!
The Gadfly ^ | The Gadfly

Posted on 11/05/2008 3:18:27 PM PST by The Conservative Yogini

You know, I had a co-worker today tell me that Obama is a conservative. No, really. As crazy as it may sound, it makes total sense that he would come to that conclusion. This is the conclusion that many other progressives will come to. It is very clear to me that a primary goal of the progressive movement is to utterly destroy the conservative party and they will do it by virtue of abrogating its nomenclature for themselves. "No no no," they will say, "WE are the centrist and the TRUE conservative party. They, those Bush extremists, are the evil backwards ones hell bent on destroying us with their hate-mongering divisiveness. "

The Obama revolution is not just Change of administration. It is a change of values, a transvaluation of values. It is a change in the language of our culture. THIS is what is truly revolutionary about this election, not that Obama is a black man or that he is ultra left wing. That he is ultra left wing has become a non-issue in this election. People don't care. What we do have is a reworking, a redefinition, a usurpation of conservativism. There is, first of all, the "old GOP partisan conservativism" and now, may I introduce, the new "progressive conservativism". It is, folks, the true manifestation of "compassionate conservativism" and its form and function has been created to destroy any remnants of true American conservativism as we know it.

My sister heard a fellow teacher tell a student that Obama was against abortion when the kid said he was sad Obama won because he was for abortion.

I had a friend tell me basically the same thing last night. She’s a republican and voted for McCain, but said that she felt that 0bama was a conservative democrat and McCain a liberal Republican. Well, I told her she got the second part right and told her that 0bama was the most liberal senator. I told her some of his beliefs and she was shocked to say the least.

From my cold dead hand will they have to pry out the true definition of conservatism to “reform” it. Hell with you, liberals.

We stand for:

1. Limited government powers
2. Less centralized government spending
3. Less taxes
4. Peace through strength
5. Defining life at conception

If they can champion these views and others like them, then they are more than welcome to categorize themselves in any manner they see fit, including as conservatives.

...and her dress last night was the ugliest dress I’ve ever seen...and no, I’m not being catty. It was hideous. I’m sure she’ll make it on the years best dressed...

What they probably mean is that he's an "Establishment" guy -- that he's not going to appoint raving Marxists to cabinet positions.

That's probably true, though today's "Establishment" isn't very conservative.

Yes..it is quite shocking. At the same time, this is what always happens when there is a revolution. It happened in Rome as well, when Augustus finally dealt the finally blow to Republican Rome. He transformed republican speech into the speech of dictatorship. The Res Publica, was no longer truly a Res Publica. It was Res Augustae, yet the speech remained the same. It is very important to look at the shift in language..that is when you know change is here.

Understand what “progressive” means. It means that they are continually and unrelentlessly progressing toward grater and greater socialist totalitarianism. Name any liberal from the past and he is a conservative compared to modern day liberals/progressives. Which means they will never be satisfied and can never be appeased. They have already gone beyond Obama. Not even he is left enough for them.

The devil’s greatest trick is to convince you he doesn’t really exist. It’s the same with liberals.

Since the 1960s I have noticed this shift in language. The origin of this on the left, I think, is from Saul Aulinsky's book, Rules For Radicals, which was read religiously by many who would eventually become educators, attorneys, journalists and the like. I had a copy of it myself, but whether I read it or not, I don't remember, being in a drug-addled state in the late 60s and early 70s. I do remember him saying that the left ought to borrow the language and symbols of the culture in order to subvert it.

However, the tendency to subvert the language was really first noticed by George Orwell back in the late 1940s or even before. Hence, a man who has always been a near-Marxist (if not an out-and-out one) can be called a "conservative." Only on Bizarro World.

May I refer you, for future reference to your friend, to Ronald Reagan’s 1975 CPAC address. The core of conservatism is so well and clearly outlined and defined in that address that it may help you in ‘discussing’ the definition of conservatism with your ‘friend’.

Not sure what a Muslim's position would be on abortion but I know that many Black ministers held a conference about the 18 million Black abortions... also, discussed was the problem of Black women used as experiments regarding breast cancer and other diseases.

However, sort of telling is the fact that Blacks voted for the ban on gay marriage in CA and FL while at the same time voting for Obama who ran as a liberal Democrat.

Curious at best... on a wait and see.

Black Liberation Theorcracy practiced at Obama's Trinity Church may hold the answer to this curiosity.

Did you ask that person why they were smoking crack while at work? Then did you point out that black is white, red is green, and less is more? I understand you are in a workplace situation, but there is a limit to the crap you ought to have to take sitting down. Your co-worker is either a liar, or seriously out of touch with reality. Either way, I’d steer clear.

Yes, this has been employed even since the Roman empire. Transforming the language, the meaning of words, is critical usurpation of the existing state and its language.

That is hegelian progressivism. Its social darwinism. At the end you finally evolve into something even beyond a community without private property. You finally arrive when you have lost the posession of your very body. I think that means death. The progressives think it means they become gods.
