When Chris Moneymaker won the televised 2003 World Series of Poker after first wagering $39 in an online tournament, wannabe pro gamblers across the country turned to their own computers in hopes of repeating history. Greg "Fossilman" Raymer did just that in the 2004 championship game. Like Moneymaker, Raymer earned his ticket to the big time -- and millions in winnings -- by entering an online tournament. In fact, four of the top 10 finishers in the 2004 series were players from PokerStars.com.

I am looking for a site with good traffic, with a fair random dealer, and allow US players.
What are the good (and bad) sites out there?
Bad beats are a part of the game. Deal with it. I play at UltimateBet.com, for what its worth...JFK
I have resisted the urge myself. Good luck. ( I mean it. )
Why not a Whist site or Hearts?
I haven’t deposited cash into any Internet casino. But I play for PLAY MONEY at PokerStars. I played at Paradise Poker before they kicked off all of the U.S. players.
After looking at most of them, I like the table and the graphics better at PokerStars; my 2 cents worth.
Don’t you know that gambling is a sin? /s
BINGO!
That is the one I use too..Play money but lots of fun.
:-)
So, where are you playing at, Norm? ;-)
I don't really know anyone who plays much. The only person who played and used to practice with me switched schools years ago.
Funny thing is he could never get a good read on me, because I wasn't too sure what I was doing. He once correctly read me as having a weak hand -- except my position was stronger than I had realized. (And the opposite happened once.)
Thanks, but the only time I have a gambling problem is when my internet service gets interrupted - lol.
This goes beyond bad beats. FTP just isnt random, in my opinion. Crappy poker gets rewarded far too much.
I have an UltimateBet play account. Definitely inferior graphics and overall user-friendliness. Also far less traffic there - takes a long time for tourneys to get enough players.
I never gamble.. hardly, much.. Wifey plays Bingo all the time.. and slots at the casino, I play blackjack occasionally.
and Online poker just cuts into FR time, yaknow. ;-]
OK, I'm a pig.
You really can do both at the same time.

I’ve heard Adult Friend Finder is a good “Poker” site.
You didn't say what you play, meaning tournaments, or cash games, limit or NL, but most people who play prefer PokerStars for tourneys. I *personally* would steer clear of both Absolute and Ultimate Bet, due to the cheating scandals there. I don't care if they say they have cleaned it up, I just don't trust those sites. I've never checked out Doyle's room or Cake poker, but I know that a lot of sites are "skins" for other larger sites.
Spend an hour or two browsing 2+2 forums, and you can get enough feedback there to make a decision. I think Stars pretty much has it all as far as game selection, security and number of players on the site.
Good Luck!
I almost exclusively play tourneys, NL. I like the excitement of big tourneys.
Do you find PokerStars to be fair? Full Tilt just has too many wild hands, particularly at the river. Way too many longshots at the river at FTP, IMHO.
Well, some people call it "Riverstars", but I don't think there are more than normal.
If you don't already read 2+2, I highly recommend it. You will find a lot of good strategy discussion there. They have sections for almost every aspect of poker, and you will find the MTT (multi table tourney) helpful.
