If Romney had been the Republican candidate.... and had selected Sarah Palin as his VP nominee....

...does anyone really think the south, or any other red state would have sided with Obama?

Doubt it.

After watching all the damage McCain has done to the conservative (Republican) movement in 2008 -— YEP, I am still ticked at the result of the Republican primaries.

I agree Romney/Palin would have been a winner.

Good move by the Chambliss campaign!

Sarah Palin is the real deal and can get the base excited to get out and vote.

If he wins it will only cement her reputation as the person the party can count on when they need it.

Good omen for her POTUS run in 2012.

If Romney, the backstabber, did not exist,
Obama would not be President-Select.

"YEP, I am still ticked at the result of the Republican primaries."

By the time the Texas primary rolled around the dems/rinos/msm had already picked McCain for us. This situation needs to be addressed before 2012...Big Time.

I was never quite sold on Mitt. The man flipped on so many basic issues. He ran as a pro-gay, anti-gun, pro-choice candidate to win in Mass and flip-flopped to further his national ambition. I don’t know what he really believes.

I think I am going to stop reading comments at these liberal, Rats web sites w/ articles about Palin. I have never seen such vitriolic hatred for someone. It really fires me up even more. So far she is doing everything right to repair her image (regardless of what the libs say about the Turkey thing). Did anyone see the thread yesterday about a group forming w/ people from Reagan’s admin to serve as a policy think tank for her. This is just what she needs and I am confident she will come out in full force over the next 2-4 years.

I agree. And since Obama won the election I’ve been very happy not to run into any jackass who brayed for McCain to win the GOP election just so’s he could go out and campaign for Obama. I don’t know if I could control myself if I had to meet up with one of these a$$holes.

You are so right! As much as Sarah Palin is popular with the Free Republic crowd, and many other conservatives, she will never get the nomination in 2012 if the current primary system is still in place. This has to be addressed, and it has to be given more than just lip service. The RINOs, who are afraid of Sarah, will put up another conservative candidate to divide the vote, and then their guy (or gal) will get the nod again, just like McCain. And then we will be looking at another 4 years of Obama and the Dems.

I’ve never supported Romney, but I’m wondering what your logic is on this comment.

???

“I was never sold on Mitt either.....his wife and kids were geniune but there’s just something about him that reminds me of Bill Clinton...”

He does come off as similarly slick. And with similarly malleable positions.

I also thought he was a weak debater. Always on defense. McCain walked the dog on him in one debate about something McCain alleged Romney said, that Romney said he didn’t say.

I have never seen such vitriolic hatred for someone.

You ought to visit GayDominion and see what the liberal queers say to the conservative queers. It makes anything I've ever seen on FR or even DU seem pretty mild.

There is a website called Team Sarah at www.TeamSarah.org started by the Susan B. Anthony Foundation. Those folks ROCK over there in their support for SARAH!

I admire Mark Sanford, the Republican Governor of South Carolina. I think he has integrity and sound principles.

Yet on Fox yesterday when he was asked to name the future Republican leadership, he mention Jindal several times and also Pawlenty. Not a word about Sarah until he was pointedly asked about her, and then he laughed before agreeing that she was a future leader.

There seems to be some kind of resentment (jealousy?) against her - maybe a feeling that she rose too quickly. But there is no other Republican in the country who can command either the media attention or who can draw a crowd like she can. She has authentic charisma.

I hope that she will lend her active support not only to a Chambliss re-election but also to many Republican candidates seeking to unseat Dims in 2010. That would set her up nicely for 2012.
