Very good question. The motto “Bite the hands that feeds you” applies here.

I read a couple of threads on DU, and for the most part, the responses to the incident are what you’d expect. However, several posters, were appalled that the security wasn’t better. That, also, was the first thing my husband noted. Why was the guy not surrounded by Secret Service after the first shoe was thrown, he was allowed to get off a second throw. It just seems the security was really lax, and this was also noted, in disgust, by some dems on the liberal boards.

I was thinking in terms of his other orifice. My only hope is that he was lead out of the room for a beat down he won't soon forget.

The assailant and the attack were PRAISED on NBC last night,
with the reporters noting he was a “REPORTER” and therefore
it was OK, and laudable.

Thanks for the ping, STAR...
Also, take a look at how President Bush waves off the SS coming at him from the side (to protect him) ...all while staring straight ahead. Never breaking his focus!
It's not what happens to you, IT'S HOW YOU REACT TO IT...

What could have had a lot of propaganda value for the enemy, now has a lot of propaganda value for democracy. It couldnt have turned out better. I wonder how the Arab press will cover it (if at all, ha ha).
I saw an Iraqi media person talking about the situation. He said that he wasn't sure what would happen to the shoe-thrower. They don't have a law specific to that but he imagines it will be much better than it was prior to the liberation. Under Saddam, the penalty for insulting him or his guests was death.

Thank you for translating that for us. I appreciate all the translating work you have done for FR & the USA over the past several years. Even this tiny bit.

Thank God there are Iraqis who get it! I hope he does find this man and beat the C*** outta him! :D Most of them get it, actually. The media just doesn't want to portray that.
I think the shoe-thrower was Sadrist scum.
