If Republicans Had Any Brains They'd Figure Out How To Win Elections

If I could write as well as Ann Coulter, I would write a book with the above title to be a sequel to one of her books. Her best book, however, was Treason. Every last in word in it was absolutely correct.

The one area where the Democrats do better than us is winning elections. We compare everyone to Ronald Reagan and seem to be lost in the woods without his commanding presence. But the truth is there will never be anyone quite like him ever again.

We have had some memorable successes in the post-Reagan era and perhaps those should be used as our model going forward. 1994 comes to mind. Newt was our leading general and strategist and he had plan. He helped create the Contract with America and nationalized the congressional elections. And it worked!

Another man with a plan was--believe it or not-- Congressman Rahm Luca Brasi Emanuel. Yes, him. Back in 2006 has the head of the DCCC, Emanuel went around the country and recruited high quality Democrat candidates to run for congress in mostly Republican and conservative districts carried by George Bush. And it worked!

Thirdly, another man with a plan was none other then Vermont Governor Howard Dean. When he ran for president in 2004, he pioneered the concept of political fundraising over the internet. While too goofy to be president (remember the Dean scream), this brilliant strategist later headed the DNC and brought his skills to that organization with successful results that worked! BHO and organizations like MoveOn.org refined Dean's internet fundraising skills to even greater levels of success in the 2008 election. Why can't conservatives and Republicans raise funds over the internet like BHO and MoveOn.org? Of course we know John McCain, hoisted on his own petard with his own ridiculous campaign finance legislation, was dependent on taxpayer funding for his campaign as BHO wisely rejected it. Could we learn from this idiotic mistake so as not to get boxed in again?

Finally, as we contemplate selecting a new RNC Chairman, let's find a winning general for a change. A man or woman with a plan and a strategy. A general that likes to play on offense, focused like a laser beam, on message, takes no prisoners, leaves behind only scorched earth in his wake, and can recruit top notch candidates to run for public office.

I criticize BHO quite a bit but I do give him credit for running a highly discplined (no leaks from his operation) campaign, always focused, always on message (McCain was a third Bush term--BHO NEVER deviated from this message), always on offense. Notice how BHO spent most of his time campaigning in traditionally Republican territory like Virginia, North Carolina, Indiana, Florida, Colorado, and Nevada? And guess what? He won all those states. Another winning strategy: ALWAYS play on OFFENSE!

The brilliant Prussian military theoretician, Carl von Clausewitz, once said that war is the continuation of politics by other means. Assuming this is correct, isn't the opposite of this theorem equally applicable? BHO has selected Rahm Luca Brasi Emanuel, the architect of the Democrats' 2006 midterm election victory, a man dedicated to the destruction of the GOP and the Conservative cause, to be his chief of staff. The same man who delivered a dead fish wrapped in a newspaper to a political rival and the same man who told the Republicans after the the 2006 midterm elections to go eff themselves.

Don't you think it's about time we wake up and smell the coffee and find some winning generals and strategists ourselves? I'm sick of losing elections and playing on defense all the time.

See my tagline. That’s why Obama won.

We did. And a lot. The point is that more people wanted socialism, unfortunately.

It is because the Communists took over the News Media long before they took control of the Democrat Party.

Losing this election may have just cost us our current “free” society.

The GOP is determined to be a minority party and the party leadership is more concerned about BS then about actually doing anything to save this country from socialism. It’s time for the GOP to get out of the way of real conservatives so we can get this nation back on track again.

See my tagline. That’s why Obama won: "Control the information, you control the people."

I'm wondering about unintended consequences this time around. The media controlled the information, but they pulled out all the stops and went too far. Watching their reporting was like watching Toto pull back the curtain in the Wizard of Oz. Did they use up their last remaining vestiges of credibility? I wonder if that was a once in a lifetime stunt, where they couldn't do it again even if they tried.

I'm also wondering how much our top candidates learned from this year's farce and if they are ready to campaign on the real-world playing field and make the media bias work for them or at least to neutralize it by using the shocking lack of objectivity to defang the anti-American media.

Democrats like power -- that's why they push so hard to win the elections.

Republicans like prestige -- that's why they want to be popular within the beltway. Actually holding power and pushing conservative ideas would seriously cut down on their invites to the best parties -- that's why Republicans don't mind losing.

Nope. Politicians no longer care about the people. They care about two things.

1. Getting into office.
2. Staying in office.

Tough to win elections when you won’t stand up to the MASSIVE voter frauds being perpetuated by democrats across the nation...

Tough to win elections when you’re afraid to stand on your principles because of the media attacks they will generate from a biased press.

Tough to win elections when good people will no longer run for office because of the demonizations, and the sea of absolute hate they will suffer for being “Conservative”.

I'm not willing to agree that the vast majority of politicians fall into that category. When that becomes the dominant force in both political parties, it'll be time to review one of my favorite Jefferson quotes. "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

If that time comes, it'll be interesting - the military is primarily red-state conservatives. What will they do if their anti-American government gives them orders to act against pro-American citizens?

Hey, look, I’m not a freaking troll. I’m just sick of losing elections all the time and would like to start winning again.

If you have some ideas, do what I did and post them and let’s discuss them. It doesn’t advance the cause to hurl insults at eachother. I’ve been fighting for the conservative cause my whole life.

We lost the election because the Republicans screwed the base... plain and simple. I know several conservatives that did not vote in the last election because of the poor choices they had.

The Republican party is done at this point unless they do something to really energize the base. They need to remember that pro-gun voters gave them Congress in 1994 as a direct result of the AW ban. The Republican party did NOTHING on the gun issue. Gun owners felt abandoned and after the ban sunsetted on September 13, 2004 they walked away.

I told many Republican leaders that we’d lose Congress and the White House if they didn’t get the base and gun owners specifically rallied behind the party. They didn’t and now we have a liberal socialist majority in control of our nation. Yes, this is an “I told you so.” post.

At this point, there is only one slim chance of re-energizing the base and the window of opportinity is closing on it. If the party is to be saved, Bush must mandate some pro-gun moves through EO’s before he leaves office. Reigning in the BATFE, authorizing a general amnesty of the NFA (class 3 database), mandating that BATFE establish procedures for testing of firearms and classification of firearms and similiar stuff.

Bush will also need to do some pro-life and other conservative stance stuff as well but I’ll leave that for the people that know those subjects.

Here is my prediction... should the Republican party continue ignoring the base they will not see control of the White House or Congress in our lifetimes barring the Democrats enraging the conservative base.

Should the Republicans re-energize the base they’ll take back Congress in the next election

Mike

Republicans are cowards and refuse to armed revolt..
therefore the democrats are emboldened.. and own Washington D.C...

If this changes... bodies will start appearing..
You know.... like in Fort Marcy Park..

The Clinton murder(s) scared the pants off most all elected republicans.. so that many resigned or retired.. right after that.. i.e. Vince Foster..

The republican party ceased to be dangerous then.. as it is now.. There are cowards..

Nothing. That’s why Obama wants a National Police Force.
