I used the tire tube example because this is a tire thread, but we buy nearly all of our childrens’ clothes at thrift stores and the new law would hit us hard. I guess there is still a chance the Congress could clarify the law and exclude resale. Let’s hope.
Almost everyone I know buys their kids’ clothes at thrift stores. I don’t know a lot of high rollers personally...

I’ll follow the manufacturers recommendations. My spouse is too important to me. By the way Bridgestone bought Firestone years ago, and never plug - patch instead. Tires and oil filters are a hobby of mine.
Only thing I would think about changing is for "liquid wrench" I would use PB Blaster.
Good call — I’ve never used it, but I hear that PB is awesome at dissolving rust bonds.
What kills inside-stored tires quicker than just about anything else is ozone. Don’t store tires, or any other rubber products, near operating electric motors since they generate a lot of ozone.

As though my spouse isn't important to me. Asinine comment. I believe in reasonable precautions (inspections), not anal replacements. If you take the OC route I guess you'd have to replace each airbag trigger every 36 months as well, not to mention front end components and numerous other parts. In fact, better replace the entire vehicle at 24 months because corrosion might have gotten started somewhere and we can't risk that /sarc
Manufacturer's recommendations RE:tires are nearly useless. The chemistry of the rubber compound can vary dramatically on the same production line and same product, and more so when different facilities are considered. I have seen tires crack in less than five years and read of blowouts in nearly new tires (Chinese, recently), and I don't think the manufacturer's recommendations would have avoided either of these. OTOH, as mentioned earlier, I have seen tires remain seviceable for far longer than any reasonable forecast could have anticipated.
The key is to do frequent tire inspections. Throwing perfectly good tires into a landfill because of some nominally stated calender age limit is foolish, IMO.
I have never actually done a plug although I carry a kit for a last-resort sort of exigency. I do use K&N or other premium oil filters.

Never used a landfill. That’s an ignorant assumption by you. Rubber and steel is recycled here. Feel free to drive 140 mph thru Wyoming with old tires for 5 staright hours with your family onboard. On the bright side, at least you buy a decent filter.

I bought I ‘60 2 door Saratoga survivor for $2,500 cash on the barrel head.
It has the push button auto, 383 Golden Lion, captain’s chairs that pivot when the doors open and the factory paint and interior.
The original owners grandson sold it to me about 10 years ago as his new wife ‘needed’ the space in the garage.
I kind of wish it had just one thing wrong with it. Then I could put front discs from a RAM 1500 on it. No way I’m going to be the first to molest it after all these years though.
