My Pop has a 1985 Cadillac Eldorado. He got divorced the same year he bought it and afterwards locked the caddy up in the garage. I guess he didn't want his second wife to get a hold of it. It still has the original 85 tags, plates, tires on it. It hasn't been driven since 85. Dark blue leather interior, Landau roof, midnight blue paint. After reading that story about the 6 million dollar car being found...how much cash would this 85 Eldorado fetch??????? 12,000?
not that much... you’ll have to drain the gas tank and all fluids, replace tires and hoses. Don’t start the car..get it towed to dealership/mechanic and have them flush it out if you haven’t done so already.
got to kbb.com and see what it might go for.
Thanks!
I am no mechanic but given the fact that the car has not been run or taken care of for 24 years all of the rubber gaskets and seals are probably shot. The engine may have seized and all of the belts would have to be replaced. If the leather and dash have not been treated, they must be in very bad shape, not to mention the stitching on the seats. It is never good to just let a car “sit” without running it periodically.
It’s worth 6 million too...but in Zimbabwe dollars.
Go to eBay Motors as well. They have thousand of collector cars.
Maybe not too many 85 El Dorado’s. But looking at ebay Motors will give you a clue as to what its worth.
In some states, if you don’t call up the DMV and tell them you are putting the car into storage, you will owe wheel taxes on all the years it was never licensed. You got 25 years of tags and registration fees to pay when you try to get plates for it. That could make the car just about worthless except for parts.
The market for extremely low mileage cars, especially the desireable, high option models, is a little different from the typical collector market. 85 is a little new for true collector status, but there likely is a market. Top of the line for Eldorado in 85 was the Biarritz, I believe, which is most visibly distinguished by a brushed aluminum half top on the roof, where lesser models would have a vinyl half top.
You would do well to check Hemmings, as well as Barrett-Jackson, to see what similar vehicles have sold for, or are being offered for sale at what price. The fluids, hoses, etcetera, do need to be addressed. Do not attempt to start it, find a shop that has experience with this sort of thing.
Wow! Don’t even attempt to start it up.
Have it towed to a garage and explain the circumstances. They will know what to do. It will need ALL of the fluids replaced... including the gasoline. The tires and belts will probably need to be replaced as well.
That thing is gonna need some work!
Plus it will need new tires, as they have outgassed for 25 years and will shred on you.
It is a 1980s GM product. You should do the world a favor and junk it. Man, they made some real crap back then.
I’m sure there’s a pimp out there that will pay handsomely for it! LOL!!!
That’s what my Pop said. 85 was last year for this model.
He paid 25 grand for it in 85...If I remember correctly.
If your dad had stored it in a near-pure nitrogen environment it would be in almost perfect condition.
Nice car. Certainly NOT worth $17,500.
IMO
Not with an aftermarket radio.
