If Israel should have learned ONE lesson during the "Second War in Lebanon" it was YOU CANNOT win a war by bombing alone. Yet after a Week of bombing this seems the strategy of the Olmert Government AGAIN.
Will Israeli succumb to the growing pressure from the EU and the UN and a NEW president of the US who is NOT pro-Israel ? It seems that way. hey are seriously considering a cease-fire that brings thing back to the status quo of early December, Israel's hands will be tied, Hamas will be free to fire rockets. This will leave Hamas to humiliate Israel as Hizbullah did before. Israel cannot afford another "tie" like the War in Lebanon, with its loss in deterrence AND international credibility and an increase in violence:

Israel achieved their main objectives without putting boots on the ground. They destroyed any way for the Muzzy’s to get rocket parts into Gaza. They also destroyed the factories to build them, the R&D shops and destroyed the governmentg infrastructure without destroying food, water and power distribution. And they destroyed the tunnels to smuggle material in. They are also killing Hamas leadership.
What will putting boots on the ground do for Israel when Hamas terrorists are now scattered among the people?

Another week or two of aerial bombing might just be the ticket. The F-16s have collapsed most of the tunnels used to smuggle in armaments and food to the terrorists. Lets see what happens by Jan 10.

How many days did we bomb Saddam in the first Gulf War before we invaded and liberated Kuwait? How many days did we bomb Serbia and Kosovo prior to the Serbians standing down and allowing the non-challenged entry of KFOR? It seems to me that there is no need for the Israelis to rush their ground forces in as long as they do not need to. If failing to do so was leading to large numbers of Israelis killed, then it would make sense to send in the infantry. If the choice becomes allowing Hamas to stay in power or low casualties for the IDF, then I'd day the Israeli ground forces should take the casualties. The end result needs to be that Hamas is destroyed. This will give another opportunity for peace that the Palestineans may choose to miss, and it will be a good setback for Iran in its proxy war with civilization.

What will putting boots on the ground do for Israel when Hamas terrorists are now scattered among the people? That's why Israel needs to use more powerful weapons. If your enemies hide in a group, then you have to destroy the group to kill your enemy. Besides, any "civilian" who provides cover for these Hamas savages deserves to be killed too.

YOU CANNOT win a war by bombing aloneAu contraire! Now that the Democrats are in the driver seat, everything that they choose to do, is winnable and good.

Very good article by Caroline Glick at link. And her last paragraph is quite a punch line. Worth the read, for sure.

This was never going to be a war. It was smackdown from the air designed to force a cessation of Hamas missiles. When the Hamastanians get tired of fire being rained down on their heads, their leaders getting hammered from the air, and want to rebuild their tunnels, they will call for a truce.
The Olmert/Livni leadership never wanted to wage war.

These dirt-bags voted overwhelmingly for Hamas and therefore everybody in Gaza should be treated as a combatant. If they really want peace with those two legged cockroaches they should only accept total surrender , nothing else.
