SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA - January 8, 2009 (SocalWeather.Org) Geologist and Meteorologist Successfully Double Team in Earthquake Prediction.
A moderate earthquake hit San Bernardino. It was felt as far as Las Vegas, Nevada, in some reports. The USGS reports a 4.5 magnitude quake struck, but reports to the Southern California Weather Authority say the preliminary 5.0 magnitude felt about right. This quake was predicted.
The Southern California Weather Authority released a press release to the public at 1am on January 8, 2009. This press release indicated that a geologist by the name of Jim Berkland was eyeing an quake window. Berkland brings out monthly predictions based on moon and tidal forces on the planet.
Meteorologist Kevin Martin of the Southern California Weather Authority gave the go ahead to write the press release on the subject. "I saw Mr. Berkland's window and checked some of my own research numbers, "said Martin. "Numbers in the low/mid/upper level weather pattern have not been seen during the month of January since the Northridge quake of 1994. This numbers fit inside Berkland's window, forcing me to issue a statement on the similarity."
