Excuse Dr. Lowery, but just because I'm white doesn't mean I don't embrace what's right. (VANITY)

when the red man can get a head

How dare he play into this racist stereotype and call us Native Americans head hunters.

Exactly what does this clown think has been going on in the last 45 years? People keep themselves down, by making excuses, blaming others, and refusing to avail themselves of the opportunities that America offers everyone who is willing to work hard.

Treasure the moment that a man that old managed to get up and speak.

That's a very gracious attitude. However, I'm not in the mood to patronize a man who speaks at a historical event, watched around the world, whose words will become not just public record, but history itself. If they wanted symbolism or historic allusion at the inauguration, they could have blown up a photo of Rosa Parks to adorn the side of the building. Not some old man who can't shake the rhetoric of the issues from 40 years ago. Ummm, is that the "change" Obama was telling us to expect?

With all due respect to age and experience (trust me, I work in long term care, I devote my life to the elderly and disabled), that's a bunch of bollocks. Ok...happy place....happy place.... :)

....and what would be the response to ‘when Black does what is right?’

I’m guessing something far less charitable. All they need do is drive over to SE D.C. or West Baltimore and see how many people there are doing ‘what is right’ on any regular basis.

White guilt? Lowery is black—I don’t think white guilt is his problem.

Its the evolved standard.......all white people, by definition, are racists upon first impression, and its their responsibility to prove the contrary. However, all non-whites are victims, and all of their bad behaviors are to be excused due to generations past human rights violations.

Or as Obama summarized it "typical white person"

Look I respect the man for what he stood for and help accomplish when his heart was true, and I respect his age and vitality.

What I have issue is the context and the intent, which is clear, especially if you live in Atlanta like I do and have been exposed to his rhetoric and that of the SCLC, which has become nothing but a whore of the Democratic party.

I can absolutely agree with ALL certainty that if B.O. plenty were a Republican Lowery would have done everything in his power, including preaching from the pulpit, to keep him out of the Senate and the White House and would not be anywhere near D.C. today.

This was the inauguration of a man who is supposedly going to ‘bring us all together’ yet he allowed a blatantly racist comment to be broadcast in his name to the world.

In regards to historic allusion; absolutely it was, and to me that makes it even more offensive and irrelevant because they just swore in a BLACK man.

Robert Frost had class. Lowery has sacrificed his to the altar of the Liberal idealism.

The old become locked into their memories. Knowing that I understand that what Lowry said was absolutely irrelevant now, but it wasn't when that meme was first afoot. On the other hand, the effort he made to show up was greater than that of most others there.

Frost lasted barely two years after coming down with pneumonia shortly after the Kennedy thing.

To me this is just another guy in the White House who is probably as ill-prepared for the job as any of them.

For black people there are other meanings no doubt, but not for long.

“Rev.” Lowery:

It was white people who, for the first time in the history of the world said, “We are strong enough to enslave other people, but it is wrong, and we are not going to do it any more.”

It was white people who then pressed the rest of the (non-white) world to give up slavery. It was legal in parts of the Arab world until the 20th century.

It was white people who set up a government of laws guaranteeing them freedom. But that freedom presumed and required that individuals “embrace right” by regulating their own behavior, providing for their families, obeying the laws, respecting the property of others, and being productive.

It was white people who kept that system going and productive, and created a country which has given more freedom and prosperity to its citizens — of all colors — than any other country in the world.

It was white people who passed the civil rights laws that gave Obama and other minorities advantages that they could never have gotten on their own merits.

It is tens of millions of white people who have worked hard and paid the taxes that have supported millions of non-whites. I, personally, have had enough of my income confiscated each year to support the spawn of a couple of skanks who can’t keep their knees together, and who are being raised to think I owe them even more.

Any black person who “embraces right” in this country can get ahead. “Embracing right” means work before pleasure, paying rent before buying bling, marriage before children, and all the other daily choices that constitute “embracing right.”

Damn you, you nasty old race baiter.

I know he is black. He is trying to make whitey feel guilty for “doing wrong.”

I seriously doubt the "editors" got to Lowry's memories ~ that's where that came from.

We have an elderly member of the family who, given the right trigger words, will immediately begin reciting a poem she learned as a child.

When people are 90 that sort of thing will happen every single time and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

The point was that Lowry made it to the inauguration. That he was allowed to say a prayer was amazing.

Bet they don't do that again!

“This just might be more about getting even than what is good for America.”

Anybody who doesn’t recognize that this “celebration” is triumphalism of non-white over white is in a massive state of denial.
