While I admire his civil rights struggles early in his life Dr. Lowery shows once again that he has become nothing but a racist himself. Shame on you Dr. Lowery for talking me down because of my skin color.

Every American should be outraged at this man’s words, and during a prayer, too. Disgusting.
Don’t you talk down to me you racist. I am not buying into your white guilt. I don’t look at people as a member of one group or another, but Americans.
This is the message that GWB failed to convey. Instead he bought into the racial pandering that does no one any good.

Its the evolved standard.......all white people, by definition, are racists upon first impression, and its their responsibility to prove the contrary. However, all non-whites are victims, and all of their bad behaviors are to be excused due to generations past human rights violations. Victims cannot be racists, therefore racism is only kept alive by white people.
Sick of it all.

Now, about whites embracing what is right, I believe that referred specifically to school desegregation, open accomodations, and voting rights.
Lowry was probably using it to make what amounts to an historic allusion ~ not a point in argument.
Guy's 88 years old. Treasure the moment that a man that old managed to get up and speak. Robert Frost was, I believe, 86 when he spoke at JFK's inauguration, and he remains just about the only speaker who is remembered ~ although Kennedy did say something but I think it was written by his "ghost writer" ~ man's accent was hard to cut through.
And, referring to age, I intend to be commenting on Free Republic or some reasonable facsimile of FR when I'm 86 or 88 or 90 and I can only imagine the criticims I'll be getting in those days.
