Socializing God?
The Powers That Be ^ | 2-4-09 | Doug Powers

Posted on 02/04/2009 12:35:21 PM PST by WrightOnTarget

King Obama has decreed that CEOs of company that accept bailout cash can no longer be paid more than $500,000 per year, and now I think The One is going after God's salary:

CBN News has learned that President Obama will create a President's Council on Faith.

The council will be announced at Thursday's National Prayer Breakfast in Washington.

[...]

This new council will be made up of religious leaders across the ideaological spectrum.

[...]

The council will be part of an overall faith-based office.

A government office on faith? So much for that coveted "separation of church and state" thing. There's no quicker way to eliminate faith in God than by getting government involved in it. Maybe that's the idea.

What would a government-run church be like? The only changes you might notice is that the 10% voluntary tithe will become a 45% mandatory "donation," an Atheist will be offered "equal time" at the end of each sermon, there will be Muslim foot baths in the cloak room and an abortion clinic in the bathroom, and your pastor will be a tax cheat who withdrew his cabinet nomination but still needed a job.

When you die your church funeral will cost $250 million and take eight years to complete, in no small part because one of the ten government grave diggers dug with the wrong end of the shovel and another used a rake while the other eight attended an OSHA seminar on the dangers of holes. A HazMat team had to be called in to check your casket lining for asbestos, and the all-hybrid funeral procession had to travel 1,200 miles because, due to an Olympia Snowe cemetery earmark, everybody has to be buried in Maine.

If GWB had proposed this, the cries of “theocracy” would have been heard far and wide.

Churches that don’t do Same-Sex Marriages will be on this office’s hit list.

“Satire?”

Reading the links within the article indicate that Doug is responding satirically to a very real direction of this misAdministration.

So far Obama and his Socialist/Democrat cadre are fulfilling expectations of more than a few.

And in a related story........The Protestant Reich Church (Reichskirche) was formed by Adolf Hitler in 1933 by merging 28 regional churches into one Church. The merger was based on Nazi ideas of creating a “positive Christianity”, namely purifying Christianity of any Jewish elements, including even the Old Testament. Ludwig Müller was elected “Reich Bishop”.

Yes....but I am not too terribly worried as I see many independents, some Democrats and lots of Republicans and Libertarians getting more and more unhappy with Obama.

At this rate, he’ll never get more than a 4 year shot at being POTUS.

Many moderates who unwisely voted for him will not do so again.

“At this rate, he’ll never get more than a 4 year shot at being POTUS.”

Your optimism is understood, but I argue look what he has done, his failed appointments aside in the first two weeks, and now today with the oil leases, and this blatant attempt to subjugate religion to the Leftist agenda.

This is just another arm around the shoulder, hand in the small of the back controlling tactic one notes not only popular with Obama, but was also a Clinton tactic to lead the unsuspecting to his will.

Heyyy...I’m not alone. This was posted today by William Katz at Urgent Agenda:

MONITOR REPORT - AT 3:25 P.M. ET: I spend part of my day monitoring the 24-hour news networks. Impression: The Obama administration is already in trouble. Even CNN can’t hide the blunders and confusion. Many in the MSM will still cover for The One, but the impression given by news coverage is that the grownups in Washington are getting tired of the amateurism, especially on the stimulus package. Next shoe to drop: Confusion and weakness in foreign policy.”

Don’t get me wrong please. I’m one that’s with you.

My point in my response is looking at what he has “accomplished” in the first two weeks means we can’t afford this guy for the four years of his first term.

Indeed...I’m afraid that he may do a great deal of damage....but eventually it can be overcome.

Let’s face it...we need committed, intelligent, prayerful people who are willing to give their best to this. ;-)

Which is why Bush's involvement of government in "faith-based initiatives" was one of the dumbest of his dumb ideas. It put the Fed. govt's foot in the door. Thanks a lot, Jorge.

So a President’s Council of Faith to make legal / religious dictates IS NOT a violation of the wall between Church and State, but churches saying “vote pro-life” IS ...

"This new council will be made up of religious leaders across the ideaological spectrum."

Sure it will. Protestant Socialists; Catholic Socialists; Fundy Socialists; Islamic Socialists; Hindu Socialists; you name it. And there will be an out-reach program for Atheist Socialists; and another for the Homeless Socialists; and so on (don't forget the GLTB Socialists). Alright now, everyone. Unity, unity, unity. Everyone get behind this grand ecumenical concept or else the Obama Civilian National Security Force will be busting heads just as soon as they get their uniforms designed and produced. People are working on that even as we speak.
