Obama throws 'car czar" idea under the bus

Barack Obama has dropped the 'car czar' idea for saving the U.S. auto industry. He plans to replace the car czar with a government task force. This sounds like another bureaucratic committee. It has been said a camel is a horse designed by committee. This is another step backwards for saving the American auto industry. They need a strong powerful overseer who can step in and force a deal. If GM and Chrysler can not get the UAW and their creditors to give major concessions, they are headed towards bankruptcy.

The best thing for GM and Chrysler LLC would be a prearranged bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy appears to be the logical, and only productive, long term option. This committee will do nothing but dilute the responsibility. It’s a lot easier to draw out a process, and milk taxpayer funds when one person is not held responsible for the results.

You are right about spreading the responsibility. Actually, they are not expecting a viable plan and this action will make it difficult to pin the blame on anyone.

These high level committees would start off with extremely high pay grades and the individuals on it would have a vested interest in maintaining their positions as well. This could be drawn out for years. With mandated funding to bridge the gap while they debate in some resort at taxpayer expense no doubt.

"It has been said a camel is a horse designed by committee"
which brings to mind a quote by an Australian politician who said something like=
“It's like being in love. If you think you are in love, you are in love. If you think you are in traffic, you are in traffic.”
He recently married in New York=

In other words Obama couldn't find the brainiac that could simultaneously please the unions, Congresscritters, environmentalists AND enable the car companies to manufacture attractive cars that are as salable when gas is $2 as when it is $4 and when credit is tight as when it is easy. Gee, what a surprise. If this person existed, more likely to be getting Nobel (oops Al must be preoccupied - he is not answering the phone).

Now he is going for a committee, oh please! This is like the OJ highway get-away, a very slow moving attention getting disaster. Barak just wants it to get off the front page so he can enjoy his vacation weekend.

It gets worse...

Look what a cluster fornication of unlawful carnal knowledge this committee will be and what effect it will have on the these 2. We are talking the Eco crowed, that knows nothing of accounting, marketing, or engineering:

Team headed by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and National Economic Council Director Lawrence Summers.

Other agencies involved:

Departments of Transportation

Energy, Labor, Commerce, and Treasury.

The Environmental Protection Agency.

As someone who was for the bridge loans, I am beginning to regret that support. I knew these folks would be incompetent socialist, I never dreamed they would be this bad.

In a discussion with a liberal friend ( former Shrink that was screeding about his mental health before the election ) noted how over his head he already is.....
