We heard it from the mainstream media and Democrat politicians for years: Bush’s war on “terror” and the opening of Club G’tmo have made the U.S. less safe and tarnished our “moral standing in the world”.
Barack Obama promised that when he became president he’d rectifiy those two problems by getting us out of Iraq and closing Club G’tmo. While so far he has not delivered on the first promise, one of Obama’s first acts as president was signing an order to accomplish the latter.
So, is the U.S. any safer? You tell me. Today, AP reported that:
Binyam Mohamed, a British resident held at Guantanamo Bay for more than four years, was released and put on a plane to Britain on Monday and accused the U.S. government of orchestrating his torture.
