Do you think homosexuality is a choice?
Oh, no. I dont think Ive ever really subscribed to that view, that you can turn it on and off like a water tap. Um, you know, I think that theres a whole lot that goes into the makeup of an individual that, uh, you just cant simply say, oh, like, Tomorrow morning Im gonna stop being gay. Its like saying, Tomorrow morning Im gonna stop being black.
So your feeling would be that people are born one way or another.
I mean, I think thats the prevailing view at this point, and I know that theres some out there who think that you can absolutely make that choice. And maybe some people have. I dont know, I cant say. Until we can give a definitive answer one way or the other, I think we should respect that.
* Explain that.
The choice issue cuts two ways. You can choose life, or you can choose abortion. You know, my mother chose life. So, you know, I think the power of the argument of choice boils down to stating a case for one or the other.
Are you saying you think women have the right to choose abortion?
Yeah. I mean, again, I think thats an individual choice.
You do?
Yeah. Absolutely.
Are you saying you dont want to overturn Roe v. Wade?
I think Roe v. Wadeas a legal matter, Roe v. Wade was a wrongly decided matter.
Okay, but if you overturn Roe v. Wade, how do women have the choice you just said they should have?
The states should make that choice. Thats what the choice is. The individual choice rests in the states. Let them decide.
* So, Rush Limbaughgood or bad for you guys?
Rush is a friend. I like Rush. Rush is a bomb-thrower extraordinaire. And we need him. We need him because what he does is, he stimulates debate. And I know it drives a lot of folks on the left loony. But so does Al Franken for us. Okay? So dont give me, Rush is a bad guy, we need to offset him. You already have. You got Al Franken, for goodness sakes.
This guy is weak.
He is a “moderate” and exactly what the GOP wanted.
Yes you can. Thousands of people have done that very thing.
Sexual behavior takes time to change, but you can change it. Whereas only Michael Jackson has ever managed to change his skin color (maybe John Kerry too, if you count that ludicrous orange tan he got in 2004).
OK, full marks for Steele here.
Correction - he's not what the "GOP" wanted, he's what the country-clubbers currently in power wanted. Don't confuse the country-clubbers with "the GOP."
Moderate? Wet noodle.
Moderate is Orwellian speak for RINO.
Unless Steele resigns or is forced out of his job, the RNC is going nowhere.
