Can't be fixed.

Otherwise it would be front page news on a reliable news publication like the National Enquirer.

Yep, he'd be big on a tour of all the tranny bars and female impersonation venues in the US. He's got a niche, but he can never go mainstream.

Adam gets critical acclaim just as Brokeback Mountain did — by appealing to the homophilia of the cultural elites. But the cultural elites are leading where very few people want to follow.

For AI purposes, he's toast. If he hangs around stinking the joint up it is because the story is right and the game is rigged.

only one I don’t like is the Adam kid...yuck, and what he did to Ring of Fire last night was disgusting.

Didn't know the guys' name but was flipping through the channels and heard The Ring of Fire. That was definitely weird. I kinda like where he was going with it, but he was awful. Screeched like a banshee at one point so high it scared the dog.

I don't watch AI, but I just checked out the Ring of Fire cover. I'm a Johnny Cash fan, and a musician. I own two telecasters. Love twang. Love Willie, Waylon, Hank, Possum, etc. And I am definitely not a fan of the gay emo style this Adam guy is selling.

All that said, I don't see anything wrong with the cover. In reality, the best way to do a cover is to change the song, present it in a brand new way (like Van Halen's version of "You Really Got Me). It's much riskier and more creative than simply re-doing the original version. His emo ring of fire is not my cup of tea, but it's a reasonable attempt. Nothing wrong with repackaging a song in your own style. It's better than aping the original.

Painting your fingernails black and howling like a wounded animal does not make you talented. It makes you a freak. Freaks have trouble appealing to a mass audience, and Adam isn’t likely to prove an exception to the rule.

A couple years ago, Chris Doughtry did a version of “I’ll walk the line on AI that was arranged by one of my favorite bands called Live. It was great to say the least, very respectful very NICE.

I absolutely LOVED it, still do, have it on CD.

I can see your point, I guess, particularly with respect to being innovative. To each their own, I suppose!

This guy and his style just REALLY turn me off.

To be honest, I don’t watch AI either.

I only saw this because my girlfriend knows what a big Cash fan I am. It so happened that the other tuner on my TiVo was still tuned to Fox and I switched it over to rewind it and watch it.

Ugh!

I hear ya. He’s not my cup of tea either. But he’s not supposed to be. He’s obviously geared towards teenage girls. And since they have no taste in music, voila.

LOL Well I have one suggestion for you. Start watching Dancing with the Stars. The rest of the AI season is going to be very depressing for you. You see the rest of the country is in 2009 and see the actual talent. Adam will win this with ease. I hear there are a couple of “straight” dancers on the other show.

If it were solely a question of talent and skill, I agree Adam would win. What he did last night was weird, but it took an incredible amount of skill.

But it isn’t just a question of talent and skill.

Do you really think the country will vote for such a flamer?

I have not watched last nights performance yet but Adam’s voice is ridiculously good. First person I’ve heard in a long time with a range on par with Freddie Mercury, Steve Perry and Jeff Buckley.

Freddie Mercury was an absolute freak but Queen was a fairly decent band who had a hit song or 20...

Well, I would hope so? I am not gay nor do I have any gay friends. But I love talent. That is why I watch the show. I would hope we as a country are at the stage where we vote on talent and not who a person is in love with.

Adam a freak? Sure

Would I want someone that looks like him dating either of my daughters? Hell no!

Can he sing and is he by far the most talented person on that stage? Not even close.

But then again the country did vote for Reuben over Clay. Lets compare how their careers are going.

Although Cash was the most popular singer of “Ring of Fire”, the song was written by his wife June Carter. I imagine a former gospel singer falling in love with a guy like Johnny Cash would be like falling into a Hell.

Ring of Fire

Love is a burning thing
and it makes a firery ring
bound by wild desire
I fell in to a ring of fire...

I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down,down,down
and the flames went higher.
And it burns,burns,burns
the ring of fire
the ring of fire.

The taste of love is sweet
when hearts like our’s meet
I fell for you like a child
oh, but the fire went wild..

I fell in to a burning ring of fire..

I always thought that the song was about his drug addiction.

Nope, the song “Ring of Fire” is about Johnny Cash’s wife June Carter falling in love with him, he being a low life sinner drug addict and all, that poor little gospel singer was convinced she was going to hell for it.
