Olbermann, Leno admit the awful, embarrassing truth

Did you catch habitual liar Keith Olbermann on the Tonight Show the other night? We didn’t think so.

The only thing interesting about it – other than Jay Leno’s continued race to the left – was the moment when Keith and Jay confessed to the fact that they are embarrassed by the their employers.

It went like this:

LENO: Can I ask you a dumb question? It’s called American Insurance Group? Is that the name?
OLB: I believe that’s it, yes.
LENO: Is this even an American company? Or...

Gee, let’s see how everyone “feels”, when every AIG employee walks off the job, and the place falls apart AND, creates destruction in the financial system? Again.. Or, what if the employees simply intentionally create destructive trades?

The Govt stole money from employees there. THAT is the truth.

I hate AIG, have for many years, but that doesn’t give the feds the right to arbitrarily, without due process, steal money.

I don't care if they walk off their jobs, in fact, most should be let go anyway during the next year.

Why is it even conservatives want to reward mediocrity?

You'll care trust me. When your kid's school or your employer or your favorite mall or any commercial site no longer operates because they cannot get insurance you'll care. When the ports and airports that AIG manages or the planes they own and lease are idle, you'll care.

AIG is the largest insurance company in the world and insures 97 of the Fortune 100. No one has the capacity to pick up the ball once they're gone. So go ahead pound your chest and cheer on this travesty, after all it will never impact you.

I guess that's the textbook definition of 'too big to fail', but it doesn't give them the right to be a$$h0les about it. Maybe since the Federal government essentially owns them, it can be broken up into smaller units that don't have such big, er, stones.

Thanks~!

Yeah, like an Oil Tanker, crew just abandons ship, as it steams toward the beach.

Having AIG employees walk off the job is indeed serious. I heard that these bonuses, much of it was retention bonuses to stay with the firm to try to save it.

THose folks were being offered contracts and jobs at other firms. Man, how fair is that???

So, you, me, and everyone need to “prepare” for a what if if the govt doesn’t like our industry, contracts, or what not? Wow, unreal.

Probably what will happen, matter of fact is happening. Domestic property is being reorged and going quasi public. Life companies are being put in trust for Fed as collateral against TARP loans. Question is will company survive long enough for this to happen. Nobody has several hundred billion available to buy any of their businesses.

“No one has the capacity to pick up the ball once they're gone.”

Maybe no ONE company can pick up the slack, but many companies can. I imagine AIG’s numerous competitors would be happy to insure that 97, manage those airports, and acquire as many former AIG customers as possible. Isn't that what AIG’s competition has been trying to do all along?

And, if AIG halts business tomorrow, its customers WILL find substitute goods & services. They have to. Do you think those 97 fortune 100 companies have not considered alternatives to doing business with AIG?

What guarantees do AIG customers have that the company will not fail, even with (or despite) gov’t help? Why would any sane businessman want to do business with a failed company now owned & run by the gov’t? I certainly will not be doing business with AIG. Would you? Surely, AIG did not have a monopoly on the goods & services it provided?

AIG’s competition knows all the above, plus more I have not considered. Don't you think they are trying hard right now to get this business? That is what the competition does every day!

I realize the bankruptcy of AIG could be disruptive to our economy, but only temporarily. The competition will quickly fill the void.

I'd say the only thing in our system too big to fail is the gov’t. Everything else is temporary.

From your response, I can assume you work for AIG. If so, I hope you have unemployment in your future.

Hey, look at me, standing up for AIG huh?

Me, work for them? Ha...

Interesting that I boycotted them in 2003 from my business, and predicted that they would go under about the same time.
I knew that something was very wrong with them.

But, I know illegal unconstitutional money grabbing when I see it, because I’m honest enough to not be blinded by rage, or stupidity. And hey, over the w/e, apparently everyone else caught up to my viewpoint, and even the VP stated the above “problems” with the bill. Now, I hope those in the GOP that voted for this illegal act, pay the ultimate political price for it.
