You had to have been totally daft to think that someday something called the Department of Homeland Security would not be used against those who stand up to the government. Will “conservatives” never learn? Today’s “conservatives” devise new government schemes and programs as though the left will never be back and get their hands on them. Foolish.
If we needed a DHS, what is the Department of Defense about?
That can't be true. Bush has lived under Democrat presidents.Clinton did the same thing- turned all our security resources against perceived political enemies.
I remember after 9.11 I thought the creation of DHS was a bad idea, because I knew that eventually the agency would be doing what they are doing now with regard to anyone that disagrees with liberals.
Yes, I’ve never seen someone as oblivious as Bush. After the
Clinton people trashed the White House during the transition,
he saw what they were, but he left them in place in the
government.
And, even if he had he would have still pushed for it. He was warned but chose ignore the idea that DHS would someday be a tool for the left.
This horse hockey by DHS will continue until the next terrorist attack (and it won’t be by anyone on the right); at which point the finger pointing will begin again in Congress. Lather, rinse, repeat. Nothing changes.

This is why I was against it from the get go. My worst nightmares are coming true. The government is abusing this department. Just like I thought they would do.

When DHS was created, I thought it was uncomfortably similar in name to the Committee for State Security (KGB). I told friends that were cheering the creation of this monster that one day Dems would control it and then it would replace the ATF as the anti-conservative attack dog.
The left had conniption fits over DHS because Bush was targeting terrorists.
Who knew the left would be targeting us, everyday Americans trying to preserve our way of life, our values, and our children’s futures.
Now another extreme truth is 0 is not a natural born citizen, and, the CRA, NWO, illegal immigration, Carter, Clinton, Fannie/Freddie, Dodd, Frank, Raines, Gorelick, Johnson, 0, etc. crowd, and the repeal of the Glass Stegall Act have more to do with our current financial crisis than any other groups of people or legislation.
And finally, the Dems were in control of Congress 1Q 2007 and did nothing to advert the liar loan / banking crisis and our government is broke.

Yes they did. They knew it was up to the people to guard their own liberty. They left us an amendment process to fix it. Conservatives need to stop worrying about preserving our flawed constitution and start thinking more about fixing the errors. If the founders were alive today, I'm sure they would see several things they could have done differently. They knew it was an experiment, and never considered it to be perfect.
Sure they did.
They gave use the Second and Tenth Amendments.

But isn’t this the consistent pattern of government? Why do so many Americans keep expecting this to change with every new government program/dept? You can virtually predict that whatever they’re called, they’ll accomplish the opposite.
