Ever seen those posters from Ohio with a fone number telling citizens to call in if they see someone puffing away in a proscribed area, even outdoors....

Good Luck, guys, once they run out of unpopular behavior to regulate, ban and tax...........

Well, that's not disagreement, DO. You're describing the degenerate state of Federal law as it stands today and I'm pointing to that Supreme law of the land they are in violation of. I'm not ignoring reality I am simply underlining it with a truth that ultimately they cannot change unless the Constitution itself is changed.

The FedGov is wrong. Period.

I agree with you there. I share your view. My intention was to address in practical terms what our situation is, whether we can expect our rights to be honored or not.

I’m sorry it seemed I might be disagreeing with your comments regarding the Second Amendment. I fully support the idea that the SA grants us the right to be armed.

It would be absurd IMO to claim that a citizen did not have the right to defend himself against home invasion, precisely the argument the left makes when they try to take guns away.

So far, HR45 is collecting dust in a House Subcommittee for 2 1/2 months.

"I sure wish I could agree with you folks, but we have a law right now that forbids anyone guilty of committing a felony from ever owning a gun again in their lifetime. It matters not if it was an infraction involving violence or a gun. One felony and you can never again defend your family from home invasion."

All it takes is a permanent restraining order--no conviction at all necessary. ...or a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction. The NRA didn't do anything about that, either, or the right of good young folks to possess firearms (another bill, now law). Parents can be imprisoned, if their teens are caught with firearms and without notes of permission. Fred Thompson voted in favor of that one.

Republican members of Congress voted nearly unanimously in favor of the VAWA (re. restraining orders). With that, they lost about 15 million fathers' rights advocates (including daughters, second wives,...). Quite a few of us continued to vote Republican through 2004, to give Republicans one last chance to repeal some bad laws. But that was the end of it, IMO. Now we only see flighty feminists, free slavers, lying celebrities, and the like, in politics: very special interests.

I'm legal to own firearms. But it's wrong that the rights of so many good men are violated for no more reason, than they were once living with troublemaking tramps (corporate/government whores) and fighting with all of their other dogs (boyfriends).

Fonda, Smeal, Shalala, Reno, Pelosi and Napolitano are products of our sexually confused and selfish leadership (both political parties). Domestic violence and other violence have increased terribly for decades during this political trend after the late-1960s.

I'm not trying to be contentious either but it didn't "seem" like you were disagreeing you "said" you disagreed. I'm sorry if I took you too literally. lol

I think our rights have already been highly dishonored and I expect more of the same. If these new bills are made law it will no longer be possible for me to remain a "law-abiding" gun owner. The question then will be "do I want to remain a law-abiding citizen?" That is a question I likely won't discuss with anyone publically.

You’re right. It’s one more reason why I have lost faith with the Republican party. It’s one thing to lose on some issues, it’s quite another to not get it at all in the first place. And more often than not, the Republicans simply don’t.

You’ve pointed out some instances where these folks have clearly lost touch with reality on Second Amendment issues. And I dropped my NRA membership because of some of this.

They win one once in a blue moon, but they want my money every stage of the moon. Not for their past performance.

The left loves to demonize the NRA, knowing full well the NRA does nothing more times than not. This keeps the NRA as the leading gun advocacy group, when I don’t think they actually are.

Yes, I did say disagreed. Perhaps I was extrapolating that we had already lost so many rights, when you were seeming to say we had those famous words to fall back on. I don’t disagree with your claim regarding the Second for sure.

Sorry for the confusion. We’re in this one side by side, to be sure.

I once lived in a very rough neighborhood for a few years. It was close to work. ...learned a lot.

Most working class Democrats are in favor of keeping their firearms, too. It's the "upscale" folks in both parties, who are afraid that the denizens of trailer parks and tract house neighborhoods will come after them. They just can't figure out how to restrict ownership of firearms to their own kind while staying in office and foreign-obtained wealth.

And those "upscale" folks are hearkening a lot to Benito in more ways than one.

Someone should write a song about it. ...Fonda, Smeal, Shalala, Reno, Pelosi, Napolitano, Barone,...dey got lotsa cool politician names now. Maybe shiny, synthetic shirts and the chicken (dance) will come back in style.

What will stop HR 45? Will Congress defeat the bill? If they pass it, will the President veto the bill?

Right now, it's going nowhere, with no co-sponsers, but that could change in about the same time it took to pass the Porkulus bill. IOW, very quickly.

But if Congress passes HR-45, Obama will probably break his arm, or at least sprain his "shooting" (basketball shooting) hand signing the thing.

Obama, Fienstien, Schummer and many other's, more than a few with (R) after their name, want the new and improved Assault Weapons Ban as a wolf wants a sheep, but they know the time is not yet ripe, but when it is, it too will become "emergency", must pass NOW, legislation.

That's true. I would not advise any member to stop their membership in one of the more elite firearms hunting associations, but the NRA has sometimes compromised against the Second Amendment. I am saying that members of the should try to correct their elite NRA leadership at such times, before it becomes more like the AARP.

But...

The Emerson Case (background info)

Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA)

...this outfit is for real--not like those prevailing in politics for sensitive, bipartisan constituencies. The thought of denizens of trailer parks and tract house neighborhoods owning weapons does not frighten them so much.

CCRKBA

Yes...little humor intended there...and some criticism. ;-)

The Senate Bill 45 or whatever doesn’t prevent gun ownership.

It's a House bill, sponsored by Obami's own Congressman, co-founder of the Illinois Black Panthers, Bobby Rush.

Thanks for the comments and the link. I wasn’t aware of who had submitted the bill. It figures.

If you would have told me back in the 70s that the Black Panther organization and members would be rehabed enough to hold political office, I would have urged you to seek help.

Now we’re both seeking help. LOL

Okay, let’s review the facts.

Two weeks ago, obuma was sending out millions and millions of supporters to knock on doors and demand that everyone sign a pledge to support obuma. NOBODY showed up.

This week, millions and millions of obuma supporters would show up to disrupt tea parties. NOBODY SHOWED UP!!!

For Pete’s sake, stop acting like scared rabbits. obuma has no army, will never raise an army and wouldn’t know what to do with an army.

THERE IS NO OBUMA ARMY TO TAKE AWAY YOUR KIDS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

obuma is a fraud, a liar and a coward.

Please stop this obuma bogeyman stuff. Thank you.

Excerpt of a memo from former Attorney General John Ashcroft.

"On October 16, 2001, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit issued its decision in United States v. Emerson. I am please that the decision upholds the constitutionality of 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(8) - which prohibits violent persons who are under domestic restraining orders from receiving firearms. By taking guns out of the hands of persons whose propensity to violence is sufficient to warrant a specific restraining order, this statute helps avoid tragic episodes of domestic violence."

The whole memo.

So...bye, bye, Republicrats. Repeal the VAWA, stop working for the anti-American free slavers and anti-family feminists, and I will vote Republican again. ;-) Otherwise, you'll only continue to have more political enemies than friends.

Agreed. For a long time, it appears that the Party leaders' collective IQ went down quite a few more points. ...probably comes from decades of doing nothing more than counting money from foreign production, money from our retarded "service economy," and spending it on being entertained.

The the other Gang (the Democrat leaders and their favored, free slaver constituents) are only getting their goat, and they, in turn, are elaborating on the stories and trying to get our goats. But my goat doesn't wear diamond earrings or gigantic rocks on her fingers, because she's better than that. ;-)

And as for the bipartisan firearms craze and fad, I'll buy, when the prices take the big dive. Obama's not going to let the rich, white man-haters of his Party (see Million Mom March) ban firearms, because the people of America's down-scale neighborhoods would erupt against him in response.

Most of us don't take kindly to attempts by spoiled nitwits to fool us.

We know that the obuma punks and cowards are spreading fear to frighten women and children. We need to counter that the best we can.
