Shocker: Obama Staffers Attend Secret Dinners With Lefty Media
Publius' Forum ^ | 4/29/09 | Warner Todd Huston

The Washington Post's Howard Kurtz has let the cat out of the bag in the Post's April 27 issue about a regularly scheduled secret media dinner attended by some of the top left-wing journalists in the country. But it isn't just the lefty scribblers that have attended these secret, off-the-record dinners for these gatherings have each featured a guest. Rahm Emanuel, Sec. of the Treasury Tim Geithner, and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke have all recently had their chance to schmooze the press and guide them with the spin desired by the White House.

So, not only does Obama's Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel have secret daily phone calls with which to program the media's coverage of the White House, now it is revealed that Emanuel and other Obama staffers have been attending secret dinners to help the press "understand" what the White House wants reported? As Kurtz says, it all sounds "rather cozy," doesn't it?

The secret dinners for Obama staffers and his boosters in the Old Media have been going on for "more than a year" and are sponsored by David Bradley, the owner of the Atlantic. In attendance have been some of the most well known lefty journalists in Washington. Not surprisingly, not a single name mentioned in the Kurtz report is conservative...

Listened to Rush yesterday.
When the quisling announced his defection, I could swear I heard Rush say the mediots in attendance covering the "story" all applauded.

I honestly couldn't believe my ears; while, concurrently thinking it wouldn't surprise me one bit, either.

How much of this can a Republic withstand before it simply *breaks*.

Yes, and we must behave like insurgents, the resistance, the underground.

Ooooh, it is terrifying. Imagine all the peed britches of the giddy media as they meet their pop star’s handlers. Tingles, tingles everywhere, and not a reporter that thinks. Do this; say this, first you then you, chuckles, and they all sip their fruity drinks. Checks and balances, hah, hah, hee, hee.

Well, it’s no wonder that they all print the same tripe and ask the same questions — they’ve been PRIMED!

I’m scratching my head as to why they’d feel they need to do this in secret. They should just call it for what it is: a staff meeting between the bosses and their subcontracted PR firms. Outside of FNC, we don’t have a “media” anymore. Journalists nowadays are no more “independent” than the editors of company newsletters. They’re given their marching orders on a regular basis. Job #1 is to write glowing stories of the greatness of their bosses (0bama) and the firm (democrat party).

My feeling is that it has already broken.

"My feeling is that it has already broken."

My gut says you're right but pray you're wrong, Adder.

Let's say it is irretrievably broken.
What exactly *is* it now, then?

What the heck else are these ‘journalists’ going to do? What with their Newspapers going bankrupt & all? Probably good to be ‘networking’ in case they need to get a job on short notice.

I pray its not too late too.

But we are treated to daily attacks and yammering hammering at everything this country stands for or stood for.

More and more the people are swayed by the argument that America is so evil and bad it is not worth fighting for or preserving.

Zero was elected on that premise, fgs.

I do not see good things coming out of this.

"I pray its not too late too. But we are treated to daily attacks and yammering hammering at everything this country stands for or stood for."

While true?
The unwashed masses in the middle have awakened. I just spoke to one this morning, a person I barely know broached the entire matter with me. This individuals close to being totally unhinged.
Not at what's been done, already.
BUT what what's been done implies for everyone's future, yes this person was speaking in terms of the future.
A classic unintended consequence for dear zerO is quietly brewing and, there'll be more to come.

"More and more the people are swayed by the argument that America is so evil and bad it is not worth fighting for or preserving. Zero was elected on that premise, fgs."

He sure was, huh.
Slippier than a greased eel, that one, makes Clintigula look like a rank amateur; but, then all the zerO's surrounded himself with are X-Clintonoids, eh?
Unintended consequence #2, #3, #4 et al ad nauseum have yet to form-up & smack the [sincere?] followers upside the head, and we haven't even begun.
It's inevitable, and, it's human nature it happen Adder.

All the crap the zerO's done up to this very day has YET to be actualized my friend, surely not on the downside.

The repercussions should be enormous. Things like governmental heavey-handed denial of all --or part-- that was held dear by said faithful followers. Nebulous things/activities/practices, gone, and they'll be told, "It's for your own good."? How about inflation? Outrageous escalating taxes -- that are NOT going to only impact "the rich", but everyone including zerO's faithful.
How long does any reasoned person think that'll fly?
Just watch, it's coming like an out of control freight train and as of now there's been no *pain*. ;^)

"I do not see good things coming out of this."

Patience.

I'm not exactly a spring chicken, supposedly know better and yet in spite of my knowing better, I sometimes succumb to the instant gratification curse of our times. Often demand[ing] righteousness prevail, like right *now*.
Naive?
Yes, very.
I do know better, so do you.

Now's the time for those on the right to simply have patience.
Coupling patience with faith will make waiting out this storm that much easier, and, that much more of a learning experience and one that'll not likely be forgotten so easily.

This stuff's going to slide down upon the left & their Fuhrer like an earth quake from hell.

Be there or be square Adder, I'm actually quite anxious and optimistic at the mere thought. :^)
