bill clintons repeal of Glass Steagall

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Government
KEYWORDS: housingcrisis; politics
The guy that wrote and researched these is an OBAMA supporter. He is a dogged researcher, and everything in here is painstakingly sourced. From his background, it appears that he is disabled and perhaps that is why he is able to be so thorough.

The author of this blog is a liberal. He is also the one who researched and wrote all three parts to this article. In those areas where there are comments, he is “liberalamerican”

You can read about his vote in 2008 Presidential election: http://thestrangedeathofliberalamerica.com/i-voted-two-days-ago.html

Part 1:

Part 2:

Part 3:

This blog is very good, regardless of your politics. I recommend bookmarking it.

It is all Bush’s fault. Facts don’t matter. The GOP/McCain /Bush did nothing to defend Bush against the Obama lies and that was the primary cause of the fall of the GOP during the last election. The GOP needs to grow some balls and stand up for the truth.

It's no all Bush's fault but he carries a fair amount of the blame. He did NOTHING on his watch to control this stuff. He also directed Fannie and Freddie to buy more low income mortgages. He also advocated using taxpayer dollars for down payments for low income loans.

If Bush was so hell bent on reforming Fannie and Freddie why didn't he do it when he had a republican Congress?

The housing bubble/crisis blame goes to all politicians at the federal level. They were all wallowing in the glow of an economy growing based on mortgages and not much else. None of them wanted to look bad by stopping the bubble from growing.

There is no doubt Bush has responsibility, but many of the same people pointing fingers at Bush including Obama, share the blame. On Bush’s watch, we had 9-11 and Katrina. Without the housing Bubble, we would have been in recession a long time ago. Congress, the White House, and the Fed looked the other way when they knew housing was becoming a bubble. But now we have the Obama Administration replacing the housing bubble with a big government bubble to try to get the economy growing. The Obama bubble is all his and unfortunately will end in disaster.

Please humor me, and go ahead and read these, my FRiend.

Let me put it this way. My b/f was a flaming lib in 2005.He was a public school teacher in CHICAGO. Like Levin says, I arm myself with facts.

One thing about me, is I don’t dismiss people because I don’t like the way they arrived at their viewpoint. I’m willing (prolly like you) to note well done research.

Back to liberal b/f.....we had a lot of fights, but I was armed with facts he could not dispute. Finally, I found this blog. It was not only LEFT, it was to the left of Clinton!

I sent him these same links.

Once he read them all the way through, he became a conservative almost overnight! He’s now to the right of me!

And now he’s taking on all comers.

But here’s the kicker....

After being a Chicago public school teacher, he went to a private Catholic school to teach at HALF the pay. He lost the stomach for his NEA membership. He says to me “Now, I remember why I became a teacher.”

And he’s now the biggest fan on the planet of school choice.

Not all libs are hopeless. But we have to be armed with facts, and engage them one at a time.

Don’t lose faith!

Yes, all the bubble did was delay, and in my opinion, make the collapse all that more worse.

But now we have the Obama Administration replacing the housing bubble with a big government bubble to try to get the economy growing. The Obama bubble is all his and unfortunately will end in disaster.

I agree.

Is he still in Chicago? What school does he teach at?

I forgot the name!

It’s St. B-Something.

It’s on the south side. I’ll ask him tomorrow. He told me, I just forgot. (I’m a putz)

That’s the other thing I forgot to mention. He’s a northsider....he teaches in the middle of the southside! The man drives almost an hour to work!

He IS still in Chicago. And I am still in Utah (non LDS...weather related) But we’re still hangin’ in there. Go figure! LOL

But he’s kinda a bisexual (in a sports sort of way) since he roots for both the Cubs and the Sux.

heh

No truer statement has ever been spoken on this website!!!! Since the lib operates on feelings, herd mentality also applies...ya gotta split 'em off from the herd, and then slowly reprogram them........takes time, and is very frustrating, but it can be done

Hear, hear!

It can be done!

My b/f is now described as his family as “our token Republican” LOL And now, his mom is slowly turning to OUR SIDE.

And he doesn’t take anyone’s sh*t. He has been armed with knowledge. He gets it.

Like our brave Marines in Fallujah, we have to operate....one household, one door, one person...at a time

Never give up- Mrs. B was a Dem until Jay Effin' Kerry scared her so badly that she changed voter registration. Of course, she was the Scoop Jackson type of Democrat you hardly see anymore.

You know, I heard a rumor that Dems used to be...normal. I suspect Mrs. Backhoe is one of those.

This includes my parents.

In 1960, they couldn’t decide. And they didn’t, as it turned out. My dad voted for Nixon and mom voted for Kennedy.

But by the time LBJ was in charge, my parents were equally alarmed. So my mom and dad were in charge of a local Goldwater headquarters. Who babysat me so my parents could do their thing? Janet and George Voinovich. Yeah, the same Voinovich in the Senate right now! LOL

I have a Communion gift from them. Who knew he’d turn out to be a RINO?

sheesh....
