Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) appeared this morning on "Morning Joe".

"Gay tendencies"? What the... this is why people consider Republicans homophobic, intolerant, etc.

Sure, I'm glad Sessions will look at someone's legal qualifications over anything else, but there had to be a better way to answer the question without using those words. What an idiot.

Is this a ‘half a loaf’ argument?

Don’t tell, don’t judge?

Yes, but I think what he said was that it wasn’t the person’s personal opinion on something, but how they would interpret the Constitution. In theory this is correct, someone’s personal opinion shouldn’t matter. On the other hand, in reality, I’m not sure almost all turn their interpretation of the Constitution to fit their belief.

ROFL! Actually, he might have been better on the SC than some of the judges we’ve had. At least he was funny...

Well, if Obama looks for empathetic justices, why wouldn’t Pere Hilton and others qualify for the top court of the land?

Then we’d need a justice for red-headed step children and...

So long, Jeff. You must be ready to retire. The only thing worse he could say would be something like "football doesn't matter in Alabama".

Well, Sessions knows that 0bama is going to choose a Pro-Death Candidate, so if that’s the ONLY thing hindering an otherwise good choice, he’ll vote for that person. I think that’s what Sessions was saying.

I’m thinking that if they can find ANYTHING to disqualify a candidate other than that the candidate is Pro-Death/Abortion, they’ll use that to vote against him or her.

As for the Gay issue. As long as he or she is not soliciting other Judges for a love-in-fest, and the person doesn’t flaunt it while on the bench . . . who cares? If that person gets blackmailed because he or she failed to ‘come out’ before approval, it would behoove the person to admit to being gay as an answer to the blackmailer. Take the wind out of his sails.

Obama isn’t about to name an acceptable jurist to sit on the SCOTUS. At least not in the eyes of conservatives and traditionalists. Whatever logic Sessions is employing to the abortion issue is seriously flawed. His rationale with respect to homosexuals, makes more sense.

If it was up to me, I’d rather not have a pro-abortion candidate or a homosexual sitting on the high court.
