Alaska Gov. Sarah Palins office reacted Monday to North Koreas rocket test with a statement that reaffirmed Alaskas commitment to protecting America from rogue nation missile attacks.
Palin herself criticized proposed Obama administration cuts proposed to missile defense programs. I am deeply concerned with North Koreas development and testing program which has clear potential of impacting Alaska, a sovereign state of the United States, with a potentially nuclear armed warhead, she said in the statement. I cant emphasize enough how important it is that we continue to develop and perfect the global missile defense network. Alaskas strategic location and the system in place here have proven invaluable in defending the nation .
Our early opposition to reduced funding for the Missile Defense Agency is proving to be well-founded during this turbulent time. I continue to support the development and implementation of a defensive missile shield based in Alaska. We are strategically placed to defend the critical assets of the United States and our allies in the Pacific Theater.

wow....has any other sitting Governor ever taken on POTUS over a defense issue? Probably not since Reconstruction anyway. Way to go, Sarah!
I think we need a national speaking tour on this and energy. :)
She should just pay for the program with state funds. She has saved money from her budget and if Obama won’t play than she should go it alone.
National defense should always be the number one priority of any president and his administration.
Sarah Palin.....A voice of reason in insane times...
National defense should always be the number one priority of any president and his administration.
I agree, but since he does not have any interest in protecting Alaska than I believe that Sarah is very capable of doing so. She has the money to continue the program so why not.
Governor Palin could drive both Obama and the Democrats into screaming hysteria if she offered to provide some Alaska State subsidy to the development of this missile defense. Even more so, if the program was modified to emphasize defending Alaska more than the blue left coast.
She could do it even more by making a deal with Boeing to continue to develop their airborne laser system, also targeted by the Democrats for elimination. Imagine the hilarity if Boeing would even agree to move its airborne laser R&D to Alaska.
Boeing has been talking about getting out of heavily Democrat Washington State for a while now, as its State government and unions are as onerous there as the automobile unions have been to Detroit.
