I’ll have to take your word for all this - or, at least, the word of that article, which I looked through. I’ve actually spent rather a lot of time in India, and have to say that none of this comports with my own observations. However, I haven’t been all over - just up north - so I’m sure I’ve missed a lot of the Indian cultural “scene.” Moreover, I’ve never in my entire life met an Indian Christian anywhere, in any capacity; no doubt because - statistically, at least - they’re extremely rare.

you've never met an indian Christian? Really. They're hardly rare and are quite active on the Indian political scene -- you have the politicians like Sonia Gandhi, George Fernandes, AK Antony (India's defense minister), Margaret Alva etc. They're also there in india's films and business
Finally, you have a large indian christian population in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia -- like Keith Vaz in the UK, Bobby Jindal in the US, etc.
Plus, where exactly HAVE you been to in india? Goa and Kerala are 30% Christian, Nagaland, Manipur in the north-east are nearly 100% Christian (the rest of the north-east is probably a combined 30 % Christian), while Bombay and Bangalore have large Christian communities and plenty of Churches.
