Prayer on it's way

My daughter, who posts as Ellendra, has had continuing health problems. Dizziness and brain fog started in October 2008 and continues to get worse. She's seen a neurologist, who had eegs, an ekg, and an mri done, which showed nothing. A throid test came back very high, so she's now on meds for that, but there's been no improvement yet.
We suspect Lyme Disease, but tests so far have come back mostly negative. She's now seeing an integrative medicine specialist in another state, and we're waiting for results of about 20 different tests. Meanwhile, she keeps getting worse. Sometimes, her typing looks like a cat walked across the keyboard. Sometimes the dizziness causes her to fall, and she's gotten some bumps and bruises as a result.
She's seeing a different neurologist in July, one who specializes in MS, as that may also be a suspect.

Any speech problems? Blurring vision? Trouble swallowing? Drooping eyelid? Weakness in arms, legs? Difficulty breathing?
If any of the above, check for myasthenia gravis.
Frequently mis-diagnosed. It’s treatable but by the time doctors figure it out, the patient has usually gone through hell. My mother nearly died from it. The ER doc told me she was “getting old”. Once she got treatment, she’s pretty much back to her old self... we can hardly keep up with her.
Good luck... don’t give up. Doctors know a lot, but not everything.

Speech problems, yes. Weakness in arms and legs, yes. She hasn’t mentioned blurred vision, trouble swallowing, and her eyelids look normal. Thanks.
A friend of mine suffered beyond belief with a degenerative issue and ultimately learned it was her parathyroid. A doc in Tampa took care of it and her symptoms have been relieved. Just a thought.

Prayers up. The brain fog with thyroid disease takes a while to go away. It also takes months to get the dosage at the right levels. I’m one year out after a total thyroidectomy and my levels are still messed up.
My friend was in such rough shape that she had to lie down in the back seat in terrible pain when being driven to doctors. Appears parathyroid issues are very common, but difficult for docs to diagnose.

Did she have her carotid artery checked by ultrasound? I have a dear friend who was also having similar symptoms and doctors couldn’t find anything either...they checked the carotid and found it was blocked 80+%!! She is due for surgery in a few weeks to removed the blockage (can’t do the ‘roto-rooter’ type stuff for some reason or other) but she is very glad they finally found a diagnosis and that it wasn’t ‘all in her head’!
Well, in a way it was all in her head, but still!

:-) I don’t think her carotid has been checked. Would it be that badly blocked in a 28 year old?

A co-workers son had blasto in his head.They were able to remove it with surgery and now he is fine. It was like moss on his brain and they scraped it off.

Wouldn’t hurt to have them check for MG. You don’t have to have all symptoms.

Sorry, that would be double vision, not necessarily blurry vision. The double vision is an early symptom, then goes away.
Thanks - we’ll discuss it with her current physician. The new physician is testing her for at least 7 suspected conditions. Without looking at the report, I don’t recall what all of them are.

Has she been checked for Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis? Also, thyroid medications like Synthroid/Levothyroxine take a week or more to “kick in”, so if it hasn’t been that long and her thyroid is indeed the problem, give it a little time.
Prayers for her health and that the doctors can diagnose correctly and start treating her as soon as possible.

Thanks. It’s been just about a week with the thyroid meds - it’s nice to have a time estimate. The doctor’s office said it would take “some time” for the effects to be noticed. She was started on a very low dosage, with a small increase each week.

We also had Wisconsin university bring some scientists and students to study an area just west of Eagle River and they got it also. People for years have lost dogs to this illness.

Two of my daughter's have that, and the symptoms that you are describing sound like something you would experience if you did indeed have complications from Chiar 1.
My daughters’ are considered to be asymptomatic. They are not experiencing any symptoms from it. The chiari 1 was discovered through MRI'S. They both have scoliosis, hence the orthopedists request for MRI’s.
Chiari 1 is when the skull is not large enough to contain all of the brain. My oldest daughter has borderline Chiar 1. She has what you would consider to be overcrowding in her skull. Her cerebellum is kind of pushed up against her brain stem. My middle daughter has part of her cerebellum growing down into her neck, down to C2.
So far the neuro is willing to let things be until symptoms appear. Than there is a surgery for it.
Has your daughter been to a neurosurgeon yet?
