Oakland, California's American Indian Public Charter Schools are quickly gaining a reputation. Well, two reputations, actually. One reputation is for being aggressively anti-union, and weeding out teachers who try to peddle New-Agey education philosophies. The other reputation is for delivering the best education in California... ranking in the top 4 in the state, and the only top California school serving inner-city kids

Oakland, California’s American Indian Public Charter “Schools are quickly gaining a reputation.”
What, NOT teaching “Heather has Two Mommies”” is not going to retard their intellect?
Wow, this is happening in the Bay Area? Say it ain’t so!
One ruling by the 9th Circus Court can kill both those birds with one stone.
I am a big believer and supporter of charter schools, private schools and Catholic schools which perform far better than the public schools. Even home schoolers get better grades than those who go to public schools. I believe this is in large part due to the corrupt influence of liberalism and the teachers unions that dominate the public school system, not to mention the fact that there is little or no moral and religious values or even patriotism that is taught in public schools and it is precisely because of all those things that the public school system in our country is the disaster it really is.
How can one go about starting this type of school in their own state?
The schools principal was on Laura Ingraham yesterday. His name is Ben Chavez, a Native American. It was a fantastic interview!
I hope this school’s philosophy spreads far and wide.
“I hope this schools philosophy spreads far and wide.”
I looked up their stats yesterday, they are just amazing and filled with minorities. And no, there is no ‘english as a second language’ nonsense.
What I’m thinkin’ is a “Stand And Deliver” type of film set in this sort of school.
We open the film by showing the hellhole/ urban jungle that the school is after decades in the hands of the unions.
Then we move to the battle to make it a charter school, with some bonus scenes of parking-lot union thuggery against the eventual heroes.
Etc., etc., on to triumph as the inner-city Oakland charter school starts turning out the kinds of scores you’d expect in affluent, white/Asian schools in Danville or Piedmont.
That would be great! I read an article that Arnold visited this school a couple years ago. Obviously, he can’t be taught.
Been there, done that. Be prepared for an uphill battle against the public school system. It ain’t pretty, but the rewards are great. This school’s model is a keeper, but with the entrenched ‘public school’ culture finding teachers who aren’t indoctrinated with liberal kool-aide is really hard. I really wish them luck and hope they can multiply.
