With great fanfare today the President of the United States and his Democratic allies announced a health care breakthrough,a plan with the pharmaceutical industry that will save $80 billion dollars.

"The agreement reached today to lower prescription drug costs for seniors will be an important part of the legislation I expect to sign into law in December," Obama said in a statement this afternoon. "This is a tangible example of the type of reform that will lower costs while assuring quality health care for every American."

There is only one little problem with the savings, $30 billion (over 10 years) of it is real the $50 billion remaining goes into the "trust me" category. Therefore the truth of the matter is, there is no $80 billion in savings, the real number is $30 billion:

If Ubama wants $80 billion in drug savings, all he needs to do is require that everybody buy their drugs at Wal-Mart. And why not? Everybody is always shopping there for the savings anyway....

The "donut hole" refers to a coverage gap in Medicare Part D. This year, the "donut hole" provides no reimbursement for drug costs between $2,700 and $6,154. After deductibles are covered, Medicare covers 75 percent of prescription drug costs up to $2,700. All costs above $6,154 receive 100 percent coverage. The deal with drug makers will provide name-brand prescription drugs at half price or cheaper to the roughly 3.5 million Medicare beneficiaries projected to fall into the "donut hole" this ye...

It's guaranteed any drug co. will raise their premiums. I'll have to pay more taxes on Medicare and SS. They won't lose anything. I for one will be paying more because those here illegally or whoever DON'T want to pay for insurance.

Fascinating that the one medical program Obama is able to claim will be making significant savings over the coming years is the Prescription Drug program established by Bush and the Republicans - the one which has actually come in some 30% below estimated costs because it is set up on the basis of competition bewteen various drug firms - bet Obama didn’t mention any of this during today’s self-promoting dog-and-pony show......

The big problem here is that Democratz don’t read FreeRepublic or listen to Fox News, Rush or any of the other radio commentators they know are “eeeeevill Right Wing zealots.”

The only way they will learn the truth is for we, us readers, to tell them. My experience is that most of the Dim’s are ultra Left Wing and don’t/won’t listen to drek. Plus, most of them aren’t very bright.
