He was the de facto governor, a general during the French and Indian Wars, an ambassador of the United Colonies to the King of France, the first Postmaster General, a member of the Continental Congress from Pennsylvania, part author of the Declaration of Independence and that's just off the top of my head without doing an Internet search.

Franklin— Ambassador to France when being an ambassador and being French actually meant something. Without the cannons the French supplied us via Franklin’s diplomatic skills there’d be no USA....
