HR2454 Passes House: Kirk, 7 other Republicans, Vote for Greatest Tax Increase in U.S. History

"Cap and Trade". The official name for the bill is the "American Clean Energy and Security Act". HR2454 passed in the U.S. House of Representatives late Friday evening, June 26th. The bill--which will be the greatest tax increase in American history--received 219 "aye" votes and 212 "nay" votes. 211 Democrats and eight Republicans voted "yes", 44 Democrats and 168 Republicans voted "no". Therefore, it can safely be said, the votes of eight Republicans...

if these 8 rino idiots had voted against the bill it is possible 8 of the rats would have voted for it; they just wouldn’t have any cover. that being said these 8 rino bastards should be removed from all committees and thrown out of the party. it’s bad enough the rats want to destroy the country, but any republican who supports amnesty, junk science, reparations, socialist health care or ANY rat agenda should be shunned, condemned, and told to leave. that inlcudes the rino senators. democrat lite is still socialist and not conservative.

The Big Hoax. This 'do nothing bill' will cost trillions of dollars and not change the the climate by one molecule, and in ten years when the climate is just fine - regardless of what we do - the Dems will take the credit. Never let a contrived crisis go to waste. By then the Obama juggernaut will be wrapping up its 3rd term and there will be no turning back from Marxism, comrade.

“the left-leaning mainstream media has failed in its charge to accurately report on one of the most important bills in American history.”

The left-leaning mainstream media has failed TO REPORT one of the most important bills in American history. There were very few articles about it before today period. Even as the time to vote got close, there were more articles on the SC governor and Michael Jackson's death than this. Even Fox was wall to wall coverage on Jackson's death rather than this. It was set up to be voted on on a Friday (”another Friday dump” as one journalist put it) just so people wouldn't learn about what it would do. Of course, the MSM wouldn't do their job and report on it days, weeks, or even months ago. Disgusting.

Most excellent post. We have witnessed the death of journalism and now the death of representative government. The Bama stormtroopers are working at breakneck speed while they have the wind at their backs and are deconstructing America. The government takeover of the banks, domestic auto industry and now the ultimate power grab-destroying American industry with the carbon tax scheme based on junk science. And Congress, our representatives, have no time to read the full bills, let alone have free and open debate. So much like the Nazis in 1930’s Germany. And no one I work with and hardly anyone else even cares. The Bamna and his Czars inflate the number of medically uninsured-to include illegal aliens and those young people who choose not to have a health care plan. Next up-government-run health care and food regulation.

The “mainstream media” as well as some respectable outlets have failed to report one of the most onerous and far-reaching Supreme Court decisions ever. That is, that carbon dioxide is a harmful pollutant that all governmental agencies may regulate (by any means necessary). This means that all aspects of manufacturing, business, farming, ranching and everyday life will be run by unelected governmental agency bureaucrats (EPA, etc.). Witness the new auto CAFE standards now over 52 mpg. Under the new socialist model, auto manufacturers agreed to fully support it in return for a “negotiated” decrease of 1 1/2 mpg requirement. So their ads will tout these new rules and no opposition will be tolerated.

Yes, this is how the EPA is going to be able to regulate/eliminate asthma inhalers. Fortunately, I outgrew my asthma attacks, but when I was having at least one really bad attack each week, if it weren't for OTC inhalers, I'm not sure I would have lived. Now, the EPA is going to regulate the fizz in our soft drinks. What is next? Since humans give off carbon dioxide when we exhale, who will they “off” so the atmosphere is polluted?
