I read the link @ WIki (not the best source) and the worst I find is he had a cousin who was a socialist utopian (Edward Bellamy)and made some money off selling flags. I have a cousin who is flaming moonbat uber liberal, so I guess that makes me flaming moonbat uber liberal?

Please point me to the source where it is documented "It (Pledge) was created by a socialist who wanted to condition people into believing the federal government is all powerful and that states who refused its power grabs had no right to secede.

First it says he was a Christian socialist with a socialist utopian cousin. Second, it can be inferred that, as a socialist he would like people to believe the central government is all powerful in order for his wealth redistributionist policies to work. Finally, aluminum works better.
