Beat It! Al Sharpton Interjects Himself Once Again
The Constitutional Alamo ^ | 07/07/09 | Michael Naragon

As a society, we generally find vultures disgusting, and not simply because they are physically unattractive. The entire life of the vulture depends on its search for death. As one of natures most successful scavengers, they are usually seen hovering on the wind, gliding through the air on their large outstretched wings as they survey the ground for the dead or dying.

In human society, we also have our vultures as well, those who profit from death and misery. Very few human beings have been as successful a scavenger as the *ahem* Reverend Al Sharpton. His latest victim? Michael Jackson.

Immediately following the death of the 1980s pop icon, news organizations began following the story day and night, to the detriment of far more important national news. His funeral, a celebration of the life and career of the singer, was broadcast throughout the world.

Someone not familiar with the Jackson legacy–and it’s hard to imagine anyone that would not be–would assume from the attention that the nation had lost a president or the world had lost a king, rather than a man who had changed pop music and recorded 13 #1 hits, his last coming fourteen years ago.

Despite Jackson’s recent insignificance, or perhaps because of it, African-American artists and leaders have tried to turn his death into a point of racial division. Jamie Foxx, in an oft-replayed statement from the BET Awards show honoring Jackson’s life, said, “We want to celebrate this black man–he belongs to us–and we shared him with everybody else.” Interesting that this “black man” spent the better part of his life attempting to bleach his skin, but that’s an analysis for another day... Taking advantage of the media furor over the death of Michael Jackson, the fame and fortune scavengers are taking their fill of the carcass, and Sharpton has somehow forced his way to the spotlight once again.

Not to mention Shiela Jackass Lee, who apparently was under the mistaken belief that MJ lived in her Congressional District, because otherwise I can’t think of a single reason for her presence or her hysterical rant.

True, but I didn’t want to go after the whole flock in a single post, so I just focused on the alpha male. ;)

Comparing big Al to vultures is a dishonor to vultures which do the work of God in ridding the earth of dead flesh while men like big Al try to rid the world of the love of God, family and culture.
Democrats are more like a virus that kills then scavenger birds which serve a purpose.

Point taken. I apologize to all carrion birds who may be participating in this forum and were offended by your comparison to Al Sharpton. :D

Unfortunately I turned on the radio today and heard one blurb from Sharpton during Jackson’s funeral... he was talking about how as an African-American Jackson led the way for the world to recognize hunger in Africa, and at one point he said:

“It was Michael Jackson that made us sing “We are the world” and feed the hungry long before Live Aid.”

Somehow suggesting Whitey was late to the issue. For Al facts clearly unimportant to him since:

A) We Are the World came out April 1985, Live Aid took place only two months later in June. It’s certainly a stretch to say “long before”

B) Live Aid stemmed from Bob Geldolf’s experiences writing and recording “Do They Know It’s Chritmas?” (recorded by a collection of 80s British Invasion bands), which was released in 1984.

Seems Al needs to recheck his facts.

You have mistakenly assumed that Sharpton is interested in facts...

I watched this thing on CNN. After it was over, Larry King, who was actually in attendance as a guest (not covering the event) told Anderson Cooper that the highlight of the event, by far, was Al Sharpton’s speech!

While I’m a fan of virtually NONE of the people that were there, Sharpton’s speech was among the lowlights of the presentation. Also included was the appearance of Sheila Jackson Lee, who is also into “blaming whitey” for everything, and then a nonsensical poem of Maya Angelou’s, this time read by Queen Latifa.

What do you want to bet that he knows the facts and ignores them for his own purposes!

Odd that they should worship a black man who took great effort to be a white man.

Probably something Freudian in there someplace.

“What do you want to bet that he knows the facts and ignores them for his own purposes!”

Facts are irrelevant when you own the media.

I heard the Larry King interview as well... having he, Anderson Cooper, Sheila Jackson Lee, and Queen Latifah in the same post will probably not happen too often. Larry was swooning over the whole event, but I don’t know how cognizant of his surroundings ol’ Larry is anymore.

It was sort of a naive statement....Sharpton, disregarding facts??? (and court judgements and common decency) tell me it’s not so!
