Target #60: Blanche Lincoln runs left on public option

I just read an email from the re-election campaign of my state's senior senator, Blanche Lincoln, which proudly touts her column which appeared this morning in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette entitled "Health Care for All".

After reading this op-ed, it has become obvious that Sen. Lincoln has started to feel the pressure from liberal groups who disliked her stance on the "public option" touted by President Barack Obama and showing that she has become a bit more concerned as to her chances of keeping her job in Washington (where she has spent virtually all her adult life).

Sen. Lincoln's acquiescence to the liberal left appears in this paragraph in her column:

Health care reform must build upon what works and improve inefficiencies. Individuals should be able to choose from a range of quality health insurance plans. Options should include private plans as well as a quality, affordable public plan or non-profit plan that can accomplish the same goals as those of a public plan.

Sen. Lincoln’s backtracking on Obamacare’s public option shows that she will kowtow to those which scream the loudest and threaten her path toward remaining inside the Beltway. As she is now Target #60 for liberal lobbyists thanks to Al Franken joining her caucus, we should expect to see more of this type of “representation” by Mrs. Lincoln. In turn, she should expect us to bring her back home to the Delta.

If Arkansas doesn’t send Blanche Lincoln packing next year, I am going to have to send my Arkansas birth certificate to the same place Obama keeps his.
