Here is video today of Sen. Lindsey Graham questioning Supreme Court nominee Judge Sonia Sotomayor. Graham confronted Sotomayor with her quote from numerous speeches in which she said she would hope that a "wise Latina woman would come to a better decision (as a judge) than an average white male." Graham worked the exchange to a high point where he pointedly told Sotomayor that if he, as a white male, had ever said anything even close to what she did, his career would be over. He asked her if she could understand that? She said that she could understand how a statement could be taken out of context. But Graham, rather than continuing to drive the point home, essentially let her off the hook by then agreeing with her that he hoped not judging people by a single comment would be an outcome of this confirmation hearing. Without intending to, Democrats can now say that even Graham agreed that people should be given a second chance after making a statement that is unclear or offensive.
Graham overall did a fine job, though, confronting Sotomayor on a host of other issues, including abortion, and her involvement as a board member of the Puerto Rican Legal Defense Fund. Graham said that fund repeatedly pushed for taxpayer-funded abortions for low income women while Sotomayor was a board member. She never admitted she knew they were doing so, but it is simply not plausible to think that for 12 years on the board she never knew what they were doing.
I had the feeling Graham was setting Sotomayor up for a following round of questioning where he intends to drive some points home about her. We'll see. . . . (Watch Video)

Yes - we can always count on Lindsay Graham to stake out and fight for conservative positions.
Sounds like he did a pretty good job. I wish he had pressed her more on the “out of context” remark. She made that comment 7 or 8 times - all out of context? Sure.
I’ve previously considered him wishy washy but today I was pleased!

Is that some kind of an ACORN deal?
I hope he was setting her up, because even though I thought he did a good job today, he let her off the hook for the “out of context” remark. Woman either just doesn’t ‘get it’ or is playing dumb like a fox.
First of all, I can’t stand Graham. He indicated the other day that he’d vote for her. His words were “Votes have consequences”. In other words, don’t vote the way you know you should. Vote to make sure you get enough votes to stay in your “royal” office.
Second, it doesn’t matter. She can say anything she wants. The dems are carrying the mail for each other just as they’ve done for the last 20 years or so. They’re marching in lock step.
And don’t think the next nominiee from this arrogant p.o.s. will be any different. He won and he thinks he’s Christ. I can understand why he thinks that. The masses are worshipping at his feet.
It was interesting. Fast questions and he limited her responses.
Graham can be a star sometimes. Other times, not so much. I’m glad to see he’s leading the charge here.
