I have spent time trying to make sense of the recent debate over Obama's Constitutional qualifications to be President of the United States and have recently come to the conclusion that Obama would be a "natural born" U.S. citizen if his father was Obama Sr., a British subject and Kenyan national at the time of his birth.
As I say, until Obama can demonstrate he was actually born in Hawaii, the case continues. But as far as being a natural born U.S. citizen, if he was born in Hawaii, he would be a natural born U.S. Citizen.
If anybody has any contrary points to be made along these lines, I would be glad to elaborate my thinking on the subject.
I will say, I do believe the correct definition of a "natural born" U.S. citizen is of being born of two U.S. citizens -- without question. But when only one parent is legally recognized, and that parent is a U.S. citizen, and the child is born in the U.S., the child is a "natural born" U.S. citizen.

Do you believe that a child born of one US citizen parent is an American citizen?
Hasn’t it been proven that the Obamas never lived at the address cited in the birth announcment?
Your supposition is based on the theory that the marraige between Obama’s parents would not have been legally binding in Hawaii at the time.
What is this theory based on?
If the marriage was not legally binding, why is there a divorce decree?
Why would not his father have been legally recognized? So what if they are not married. The citizenship of the father is known, he was still alive and present. It’s not like they have NO record ofthe father and therefore would only have the mothers’ citizenship to go by determining if he was natural born or not. I could see it might come into play if the father was unknown and/or not there. But this is not the case.
He is listed as the father on the birth certificate. Since when would the marital status change anything, he is his father whether they were married or not. Men are fathers if they have kids, just like women are mothers if they have kids. They may not be ‘husbands’ or ‘wives’, but they are fathers and mothers.
I don’t want to see a newspaper announcement or an online COLB. Just show us the birth certificate. How hard is that? Seriously.
Look, if he was born in the U.S, I think he was a citizen. My mother was not a citizen when I was born (although my father was not only a citizen of almost 30, but he was also a combat veteran U.S. Army officer), and I am a citizen.
I don’t know that a birth announcement in a newspaper proves anything if the parents could register the birth even if the birth didn’t take place in the U.S. (my understanding of Hawaii policy then). All the announcements I have seen in newspapers (for my son and for me- they had stopped them by the time my daughters were born) were from the hospital.
Who delivered Barak? Do we know or does anyone claim to be the doctor/nurse on call when he was supposedly born in some hospital in Hawaii? I would have to think that someone would remember delivering a child with the name Barak as it is not ordinary.
Somebody claimed to have researched that address at the time of Zer0’s birth. 0be’s Commie Mommie and Daddy didn’t live there and maybe not together anywhere else.
In order to ascertain the true probative value of these newspaper clippings (two), other evidence needs to be obtained as to their source.
