There is plenty to criticize in the strange case of the arrest of Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates at his home by Cambridge, Mass. police.
When police responded to a call that two men were apparently breaking into a residence, they found Mr. Gates had broken into his own home because he didnt have his keys. That should have been enough to satisfy the police that Mr. Gates was not a burglar and the police then would have gone about their business. But, alas, things often turn out to not be as simple as they ought to be.

Whenever it backfires, lefties try so spread that big old hunk of blame around like a schmear of cream cheese.
Wrong.
Crowley did his job.
Gates acted like a drunken idiot.
Obammy got caught playing his own race card.
Before anyone reads the rest of this BS, I would note that Gates did have a key. The front door was apparently jammed. So he went around to the back door, maybe picked up a hidden key for that door, and gained access to his house. He did not break into his house.

Officer Crowley radio interview...he explains what happened step by step. This guy should run for office!
Crowley should not have to apologize - the man showed a Harvard id which does not give an address of residence on it.
Gates should apologize for being uncooperative
BO should apologize for sticking his nose in where it did not belong.
Deval Patrick should apologize for even getting involved too!
Crowley performed EXACTLY as he should have! Gates is a PUNK! Obama is a thug.
Everyone may now see and then bow before Great Leader. HE has demonstrated HIS greatness and most postmodernist elevation of perspective. No one is at fault, you see, it was mistakes all around. Everyone should get a trophy.

Not interested in wasting my time.
Don’t need you there, anyway.
Thanks for spouting.

Exactly.
This is just like the lady who backed into my car in the parking lot the other day. It was clearly her fault, but the first words out of her mouth were “It’s both of our fault!”.
Gates showed a Harvard ID and a ghetto low-life mentality.
When he called Crowley that mother-word that blacks are so fond of his arrest was assured, and rightfully so.
You can take Gates out of the ghetto, but you cant take the ghetto out of Gates. Even if he does eat in private rooms of fancy Italian Restaurants. His roots are deep.
Great post. I said the same thing on a post last night.
parsy, who hopes common sense prevails.
No, everybody did not screw up. Gates screwed up. Obama screwed up. The author of this piece screwed up. But not everybody screwed up.
Just reported that Obama will be inviting Crowley and Gates to the WH.
Umm, maybe you should try reading the police report before writing a silly fact-challenged rant about the incident.
The conflict began *before* Gates provided any ID to the officer, or even verbally identified himself. He initially refused to open the door and come out to speak with officer as requested, even though he could see the uniformed officer through the glass-paned door, and when he finally did open the door, he immediately starting shouting at the officer about racism.
And the arrest occurred *after* the officer had started to leave, and Gates decided to follow him outside and continue shouting accusations of racism, as a crowd gathered to find out what all the commotion was about.
Parsy, read the police report.
Common sense and fairness would have resulted in pressing charges against Gates for disorderly conduct. It’s only because he’s a professor at a hoity-toity Ivy League University and playing the race card, that he’s not still facing charges. And if a white person in the same situation had treated a black police officer exactly the same way, Gates would be howling that the white person displayed racist bias towards the black officer, and insisting that the DA press charges.
