Town Hall meetings from a candidate's perspective

Today's Guest Author is Stephan Andrew Brodhead who is running for the House of Representatives in Oregon's Congressional District #1.

Health Care is at the top of the American consciousness this summer. It seems that just about everyone has an opinion on it, and there are many people who are passionate about their beliefs on both sides of the argument. As a candidate for the House of Representatives District 1, I feel it is my duty to honestly listen to as many people as possible who feel strongly enough to attend Town Hall meetings that are taking place all over the Nation. To that effect, I have been attending as many of David Wu’s Town Hall meetings as I can; both to listen to citizens and their concerns, and to hear Mr. Wu’s responses to the people.

I arrived at the Seaside Public Library an hour and a half before the event and waited in line with everyone else. It appeared that the individuals ahead of me were all Health Care reform supporters. Those further back in line were far more skeptical. I was one of the last people allowed a chair in the small room which was made available on a first come first serve basis. The questions seemed to be straight out of a talking points memo, even though the questioners were selected randomly from a hat. As I listened to the last question from a health care professional who stated "it was her dream to finally have Health Care for everyone", it sounded like a staged practiced closing statement!

Honestly its awesome that so many people are attending these things. It’s really good for the Democrats to SEE that their bad medicine is NOT going to go down with out a fight!

We got probably between 2 and 3 hundred people out yesterday. The Obamaturfers were out in force but still well outnumbered. Lots of great signs handmade by real people made for some great pics.

Those are great pictures!

Its great to see people really paying attention! Even better to see them involved, particularly on the conservative side! Things for us have been too quiet for too long.

Hi Salvation! Oregon Ping!

Much to keep an eye on congress critters about. Socialist Health Care takeover by the government this month and the theft of Cap and Trade and “Green Energy” when the dolts in the Senate get together again. And we won’t forget about amnesty either. So you guys are going to be hearing a lot from us until you adj urn for the Christmas Holidays.

Yep, I am going to be doing another article on the Hoax of Global warming based on new research from MIT that states that CO2 is a LOT less responsible for the absorption of heat (Anthropogenic global warming) than scientist had once thought, and will force EVERY climate model in use to readjust their calculations. CO2 is eve less of a factor than previously thought! LOL Oopsie!

Give em h@ll FReeper Friend.

I just got this nitwitery in my email. Somebody signed me up.

Dear NUC 1, (original salutation deleted)

In a disappointing move, the Obama administration has left polar bears poorly protected from one of the gravest threats to the species – global warming.

Rising temperatures are robbing polar bears of vital habitat and melting the sea ice they use for hunting and raising their cubs. Tell Interior Secretary Salazar how disappointed you are in his decision to leave polar bears without protection from global warming »

Unfortunately, the Obama administration's Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has failed to give polar bears the full protection they deserve. Following in the footsteps of the previous administration, Secretary Salazar chose to leave a Bush-era rule in place that limits this ice hunter's protection from global warming and oil and gas development under the Endangered Species Act.

Don't let Secretary Salazar condemn the polar bear to extinction. Urge him to review the science and establish vital protection for polar bears under the Endangered Species Act »

Thanks for taking action!

** first come first serve basis. **

At least they provided first come, first served — not everyone bussed in like at Obama’s crackerjack performances. LOL! Maybe Sarah Palin needs to start showing up at Obortion Obama’s townhalls. What a hoot that would be!
