Today, my daughter, FReeper Anoreth (since 11/29/03) graduates from Coast Guard Basic Training.
We're also celebrating "The Boy," son of FReeper AnAmericanMother, who is graduating today from Marine Corps Basic.
And "ForgotenKnight," grandson of Monkey Face, recently deployed with a Stryker unit to Afghanistan.
Other FReepers with children (grandchildren, nieces and nephews, etc.) in the military, please join us in celebrating all our family members who are serving our country in the military.
Anoreth, with brother Bill, on her way to Basic, 6/16/09.
Great job. I was hoping to get my son into the Coast Guard Academy when the time comes.
Anoreth will be joining this boat, USCG Cutter Mellon, next week in Seattle, WA.
Good luck! That’s a great way to start a career.
My Son-in-law graduated this past Friday from Coast Guard A school - he is a petty officer in Rochester, NY.
Congratulations Anoreth!
Congratulations and thank you.

Excellent! What was the subject of his school? My family has experience in the Navy (father, uncles, cousins) and Air Force (husband, brother, more cousins) but we’re new to the Coast Guard.
Thank you, Mrs. Re your tagline, Anoreth didn’t like New Jersey one bit!
Ping!
OH Goodness!
Give her a big hug and thanks from me!
Thank you for your service, Anoreth. You now belong to large group of people — and yet the minority of the U.S. population — who are actually GIVING something in service to their country. That makes you better than our current president. And I am sure he will never match your contribution.
God bless.
Congratulations, all! Thank you for serving, Anoreth.
Proud to be a part of Free Republic with you folks.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratz Anoreth — We are proud of you and honored that you will be serving our country!
I wish I could! Der Prinz and Bill drove up for the graduation and to spend the weekend, along with my parents and my brother and sister-in-law. I’m home with Tom, Elen, Sally, Pat, James, Vlad, and Frank, feeding all the petz!
There’s an overwhelming sense of relief in having one child successfully “launched”! Now I can worry about how Bill’s going to turn out, for the next three years ;-).
We are actually in the stands at the parade ground at USMCRD Parris Island! The fun is about to begin.
sending via DH's Iphone so won't say much. Full report and pix later
I’m hoping to feel that joy soon :)
But for now — it’s all about these kids - how awesome they all are!
