It's time to SECEDE!

Fiercely independent and thoroughly horrified at the blatantly unconstitutional explosion of federal tyranny into every aspect of our lives, Texans are set to march on the state capitol in droves on Saturday. They will be delivering a million-strong petition to their elected officials based on the 10th Amendment, demanding an immediate constitutional confrontation with Washington.
If they are turned away or their concerns inadequately addressed, organizer Gerry Donaldson says they "will be forced to call for a vote for secession." This will not be the last time a state openly defies Obama's treasonous war on the Constitution.
Donaldson, who runs his own Internet radio show, says they are "calling for an orderly process that will allow our federal government to fall back in line with the Constitution." He continued, "Either we will restore America, we will live in a Marxist dictatorship, or we will secede and start over again."

I’ve been waiting and counting on Texas to do this!
They wisely had this option written into their Constitution in the very beginning.
But we need more states to declare, at least, States Rights - as they are doing one by one...

Once 30 have done this - they can stop the FEderal Gov’t in it’s tracks and put it back to it’s narrow field of rights as outlined in the Constitution.
I hope they hurry up, as I doubt Texas will be able to find room for all us that will pack our bags and head for the Lone Star State. This rally aught to make some good headlines - not that most of the media will cover it. That’s okay. If FOX does, well, they’ve got the most viewers, by far.

Nice, except that I strongly recommend that as you include the ten amendments of the US Constitution, that you reword them as necessary to eliminate the possibility of misinterpretation. This can apply to any and all amendments, but particularly the second, which was worded with a grammar structure beyond the capabilities of many modern citizens, and therefore the meaning can be manipulated to statist ends. I suggest something along the lines of “Texas, recognizing the value and necessity of an armed citizenry, affirms that all persons have the right to possess and bear arms.” No caveats, no restrictions, no unusual clauses.
OK, I’ll take the hat, but I draw the line at those big silly belt buckles.
I went on the radio show of one of the folks pushing this a few days back. Kinda left them speechless for a bit when I asked them this question, roughly paraphrased:
“If, while you have the freedom to communicate, to organize, to run candidates for public office, etc., and you can’t get people motivated to get off their rear ends to save our republic, what makes you think those same people can find the political and physical will to enforce secession?”
They really didn’t have an answer.
Not for "retirees"....not even close. But that's probably a good thing for TX.

Fall break we’re planning on a college visit to look at where my oldest may go to school. ASU and Texas A&M are in the running. I think we just decided to check out A&M first. :-)
If TX secedes...that leaves 56 states of Obama’s 57 states.

The Texas Constitution already has it.
Sec. 23. RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. Every citizen shall have the right to keep and bear arms in the lawful defense of himself or the State; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms, with a view to prevent crime.
Not ideal, I would say... but significantly more clear than the US Constitution’s Second Amendment.
As I understand, Texas cannot secede, it can only break up into 4 more states. Would give 8 more Senate seats.
Either way, seems to me things are gonna get ugly.
Texas funds itself through property taxes, sales taxes (still lower than California) and oil taxes.
On the other hand, we pride ourselves on running a low-services low-cost state, so it’s not a big deal.

Texas already has a flag and I doubt real Texans want to serve under that one.
Different times, different principles.
Back in the 1840s, Texas realized they couldn't defend their borders with 19th Century technoclogy so they joined the Union as a way to protect itself from invaders.
They were tag-alongs in the secession movement of the Civil War which was led by other Souther states.
In today's times, Texas has the resources and the willpower to go it alone without Washington's help or influence. They can better control their borders than apparently Washington will or can, and they need to get out as soon as they can or get sucked under the massive debt run up by the Feds.
Imagine a new country with its own capitalist economy, no I.R.S., respect for God and the ability to learn from the mistakes America has made in the past 200 years. Texas can make it happen.
