We homeschool our kiddos. I instructed my wife to tune in Rush for their civics lesson on 9/8.
My children will NOT participate in any such thing. I will find out immediately if this is going to happen at my school. My mom and sister (both teachers in the DFW area) haven’t heard anything about it as of yet. Anyone else in the metroplex know anything?
if anyone in the ft. worth area needs me to watch their kids that day, let me know. lol I will be here with my rowdy boys.
As a private school parent (conservative Christian school), I’d say this is one of the best choices I have ever made. My kids and most of their friends are remarkably normal, as are their teachers.
Look at the link in the source blog...http://www.ed.gov/admins/lead/academic/bts.html
The activities are here: http://www.ed.gov/index.jhtml
The activities give away what is really going on.
Ooohh... that’s excellent!
As for us, we will not be using an excuse. We will let the principal know that we are thoroughly disgusted with this creepy political indoctrination, and we are keeping our daughter at home that day for that specific reason. IF he doesn’t like it, he can kiss my ass... no permission slip required.
Either that, or I will drop her off at school at 9 AM and pick her up at 10 AM, before they get a chance to get into things. I’ll have to contact the teacher.
Are you kidding? Of COURSE you won’t hear it FROM the school. This is the kind of thing you have to find out on your own.
IT’s true.
Who will be delivering the GOP response?
Seriously....I think it’s legally mandatory in a case like this. I’m not going to hold my breath though.
Well I’m just a lowly home economics teacher...
All I’m saying is, that we aren’t being made to “tune in” at my school.
Anyone with ability should be boycotting public schools 365 a year.
They have been indoctrination factories engaging in educational malpractice for over 40 years, its only now that they have become openly flagrant about it.
I’m a teacher in a public school. I teach first grade and figured we’d be exempted from this garbage. Today I received a note in my school mailbox encouraging us to show the “anointed one” on Sept. 8th. I checked the box that said I do NOT plan to show it to my 6 year olds. Hopefully I won’t be forced to show it. I can’t afford to be fired. If I am forced, I will certainly do my best to “de-program” them.
From the Lewisville ISD here in Texas where my kids attend basically said that the students time was too valuable to show the speech in class, but they will post it on their website.
As a public school teacher, I am proud that the entire Commonwealth of VA is leaving this as an optional video - it is not required to be shown
I can’t say the same for other states, but at least VA and a few others have the right idea
