Race card played by politicians a losing ploy?

Politicians trying to manipulate voters using the "race card" may be in for a surprise. It is not working as well as it did during the campaign when Barack Obama was running for president of the United States.

If anything, it now brings unwanted notice about black politicians who have abused their power while in office. For example, former U.S. Congressman William Jefferson who was convicted of taking bribes. Playing the "race card" also conflicts with the fact that the Chairman of the Republican National Committee is Michael Steel, is a black and a former Maryland lieutenant governor.
