There is no “we” when it comes to the House of Representatives. You only get to vote on your congress critter. You have do decide how to vote on the candidates offered, or to run yourself. You must also decide who to support financially and with how much.
That is the game. Certainly when deciding how you will play you can look at what you hope the end state will be, but you don’t have a “dump them all” button. Free Republic is a splinter of a minority. That splinter of a minority can have effects out of proportion to their numbers IF USED INTELLIGENTLY. I don’t think you get an intelligent strategy by throwing out people who are your ally 80% of the time, or even 60% of the time. That is why in the last election I voted for McCain-Palin (feeling better about McCain’s experience and Palin’s politics). Even though I lived in CA and KNEW how it would turn out.
We don’t have a monarchy where the King can dissolve Parliment just because, and ban old MPs from running. I don’t think it helps (except as a vent) to pretend that we do.
donmeaker,
If you take the time to look at the GOOOH process you will see that it is just that.. a process... a very different process than the “traditional” campaign process as we know it.. I think it can work if enough people decide to MAKE it work.. according to Tim that number is about 500,000 ... can I count you in?
You can count me out. There is only one way that we can fail to win back the House after 2 years of misrepresentation and misrule, and that is to have a half million conservative people stand outside the usual election process.
So how is that shunning of John McCain working out?
Because after all, no candidate will ever lie if you ask him questions, right?
Gooh is just another third party. All it will do is take good conservatives out of the political process by dangling the “we might select you” in front of them.
I don’t want to give the democrats another 2 years with house, senate and presidency. Heck, I didn’t want to give them this two years. If we blow it, then we blow it.

donmeaker,
The way I see it is GOOOH is a NON-PARTISAN process to select potential candidates for the U.S. HOUSE period.. The house was never intended to be dominated by CAREER politicians... There is no single conservative member of the House who is irreplaceable.. in fact I would encourage current members of the House to participate in the GOOOH process as well... of course in doing so they will have to give up their RE-ELECTION campaign...

TOWARD VICTORY in 2010 — Let’s GOOOH !
It is about as not partisan as the campaign finance reform, that ended up limiting McCain to 84 million while Obama had 600 million.
Republicans are nuts to sign up for this when the incumbent Democrats NEVER WILL.
I have to admit I was quite satisfied with a career politician from North Carolina. Senator Helms did a great job.

No disrespect to the career politcian who occupies the seat from your district. I find it very hard to believe that out of ALL the folks who reside in your district he is the ONLY one qualified. Let’s get real here folks.
TOWARD VICTORY in 2010
GREAT !
BTW - I am in no way “leaving” the Republican Party. Again I VERY MUCH support the STRONG two-party systm. The GOOOH process is simply that.... a PROCESS of identifying QUALITY folks as potential candidates for the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES !!! -— PERIOD.. These elections are LCOAL my FRiends.. I am STILL a Republican and will continue support CONSERVATIVE Republicans..

donmeaker,
This is just a PROCESS my friend... a process that brings politics a little closer to home... ever heard the term “ALL POLITCS IS LOCAL”? We have drifted so far from that in the HOUSE... I would NOT be in favor of this approach for Senate races, but I think we need to do SOMETHING to get rid of career HOUSE members who are often too easily re-elected.... again, I find it very hard to believe that we don’t have folks in our hometowns who can better represent US in the the U.S. House of Representatives.

altair,
please don’t worry about the questions, but rather the process... that is where the power is here.. the issues may vary greatly from state to state and district to district... that is why GOOOH is a process for producing a candidate that is reflective of the district by forcing “controversial” issues on the table... again I would not be in favor of this process for any office other than a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives
The conservative movement is going to take time to sort out who is really a conservative and who is a wolf in sheep clothing. It will take time. And time is not always on our side. We need strong men and women to run as well. That is why IMHO, Duncan Hunter Sr. should now be occupying the WH.
Yeah but couldn’t they have come up with a better name than GOOOH?
If we get rid of career Republican house members, in an election that pits Republicans against Democrats, that elects a Democrat. If you run a third party candidate, you split the Republican vote, and that elects a Democrat.
The correct thing to do is to run a conservative Republican in the primary against a less conservative Republican. Another thing to do is to run a conservative Democrat against a less conservative Democrat in a primary election.
Then, vote for the most conservative in the general election.
Generally, you look at the way they vote in lower office.
Normally its a bad plan to elect someone with no history of legislative or administrative accomplishment.
