"Cash for Clunkers" Fails to Help Chrysler and General Motors into Positive Territory - Video 9/8/09

Here is video from NBC last night where Brian Williams reported that the Obama Administration's "Cash for Clunkers" program was underwhelming in helping Chrysler and General Motors.

Of the big three American car makers, only Ford was up in August sales over August 2008, with a 17% gain. Chrysler was down 15%, and General Motors was down 20% - even with the "Cash for Clunkers" incentive. Toyota was up 6%.

NOTE: What happens in the coming months with no government boondoggle incentive? . . . .(VIDEO)

PLAGIARIZING MYSELF FROM ELSEWHERE:

A fiasco like “Cash for Clunkers” should be headline news for weeks in any administration at any time, and a permanent stumbling block to ANY further ‘fixes’ this particular administration suggests.
It illustrates the by now commonplace, shameful and criminal negligence of the MSM that we should even wonder if a fiasco of this magnitude will make one night’s news splash in this country.

If any Conservative politician in America would even suggest a political/foreign policy/economic/military ‘fix’ with one one millionth of the potential for failure that the Cash for Clunkers idea suggested right from the beginning, he’d be howled out of town by the Liberal know-nothings who have set themselves up as the first and final arbiters for all that is wrong with America.

At what point did the party with a perfect record for non-stop and wholesale professional malfeasance, intellectual banality and the countless personal misdemeanors of its ‘representatives’ become the go-to group for the resolution of ANYTHING??????????????????????????????????????

... because the majority of the vehicles purchased with help from our tax dollars were made by Japanese car companies. Way to go obama, {dumb-a$$} didn’t see that one coming? Maybe you should’ve looked at the various manufacturers vehicle lineups. As I understand it, few GM or Chrysler models even qualified...

You just don’t understand.......

If it helped keep even one UAW member on the payroll, it was a success by their criteria.

FWIW I sent a note to my senator Evan Bayh (D IN) asking him to send me a picture of the 50 year old UAW retiree that my taxes support @ $3200/month and silver plated health benefits.
So far, no response.

They should have called it the “Deny the po folks a ride program”. Looks to me like most of the people who traded in on the cash for clunkers program could have afforded to buy a new car with or without the program. It removed cars that people who can’t afford to buy new, from the market.

If they pay attention, which they won't, they will realize that most people utilized the program to buy cars NOT owned by the government.

In the Baraqqi ideal model, people ride public transit and high speed rail. Cars are redundant.

In the Baraqqi ideal model, people like myself don’t live in the sticks. Instead we all live in soviet style housing blacks.

*headline news for weeks*

Yeah, remember the months of non-stop news about the CIA supposed operative(not) who was revealed? Can you believe I forgot the name but her husband was the bad guy and the media made them out like angels...

UAW workers have enjoyed (undeservedly) the status of spoiled darlings in this country for too long. And don't anyone argue with me on this one... I used to work in a steel mill and I know what passes for ‘labor’ there. To walk into an ‘unskilled’ position and demand the kinds of concessions these people demand and routinely succeed in getting, is beyond belief. The economy has been held hostage by them for decades AND they DO NOT care!

For much of my life, the images in my mind were Cadillac = king of the road, Buick = the doctor’s car, Chrysler = great engineering. Now, my image is “government motors” and “Obamamobiles.” I won’t touch them.
