Appears to be small or young Wolves. I don’t think the eagle would have a chance with mature wolf.

There are a lot of things in the world unique and I hope they stay that way.

I've personally seen wolves here in Idaho in the wild in excess of 120lbs. After watching this video and the training they have...I believe a couple of these mongolians on horseback with their golden eagles could take down a timber wolve.

In truth though, it's a moot point. The mongolians and their eagles are not here...and the Canadian timber wolves are not there.

See my post 26 and 43. We now have a wolf season again here in Idaho. I believe a couple of these birds, with their handlers, would take dwon a large timber wolf.

But...we'll probably never know. Thoe being hunted on this film are mature animals (some coyote sized, others larger) in the mongolian steppe.

Killing for killing sake is not my thing. I dont think this is something to be pleased with.

Well, from the video I watched and the added link into the culture of those people, there doesn't seem to be any McDonald's within a 20 mile horse ride from where they live.........

Unless of course the restaurant is just over the next mountain top..........Sheesh!

Those aren’t North American wolves. Those look more like coyotes. Really small.

I would have never thunk it...
My thought a Eagle would fairly easy for a Wolf..
Not so.. Course it could be the size of the Wolf..

Ok. They take away our guns...we train eagles.

IAC, a great anti-terrorist weapon to use on all the terrorists in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Somalia, Great Britain, France, Iraq, Gaza, Lebanon, and the many known terrorist-cell training facilities in the U.S.

Just wish I had a couple of dozen in time for the 9/25/09 gathering on Capital hill of 50,000 members of the religion of peace.

Also, instead of waiting for another Joe M. to come along, just turn a dozen anti-communist trained eagles loose in DC. (Heck, the demoncruds wouldn't have enough congress-critters left to fill a taxi.)

Finally, it would be great to have one of these eagles when the ACORN census taker comes onto your property. (Although I do have a Desert Eagle....{:-)...)

When driving at night here in Michigan, if you see one deer run across the road, you always slow down cause anywhere from another one to 5-6 are following the first one...My son in law got 2 at once via accident...those darn deer cause thousands of accidents in Michigan every year.

Couple of them are pretty big...just judging by my own knowledge, I would say most were 50 or so lbs, but I bleive there were a couple there either 80 lbs or more.

As I have said, I bet a couple of those mongolians on horse back with their larger eagles could take down a candaian timber wolf...but they'd need two.

As it is...we'll probably never know.

Yes, they had to send in a second in one of the scenes on this video. The dog was going to kill the first eagle.

I can’t put a finger on it as to why, but I find the video and “hunt” repulsive on several levels. And I’ve hunted since I was 6 and have killed a number of fox and a couple truckloads of ‘yotes.

I don't find it repulsive. These are herders, who over centuries have developed a method to protect their goats and sheep from predators.

Here in the states we use rifles...and, in very remote areas of the Intermountain West (formerly) and Alaska have used aircraft.

These herders have trained and used eagles. I think it is an amazing example of a population, in a very remote area, using the tools God has provided them with, to eak a living off the land.

"Not done "for killing sake," in the least, any more than western ranchers here in the US kill wolves just fro the sake of killing them."

That's true, Jeff. Although it's been a while since I saw a "Have you hugged a Mexican Wolf lately?" bumper sticker.

I’ve had occasion to travel to some Eastern Bloc countries over the past year and it surprised me to see the way eagles are used there. You’ll stop at a rest stop or scenic overlook and there will be four or five different guys there with golden eagles on tethers. The purpose? They want you to pay them to have your picture taken with an eagle. Bizarre, not to mention kinda sad to me.
