Mayo Clinic Looses [sic] Millions Because of Medicare

The Anchorage Daily News has a very interesting editorial that reveals that the celebrated Mayo Clinic has lost millions because of Medicare over the last year.

In its editorial the ADN is warning that the public option is "as unhealthy as Medicare" because of the artificially low payments the government remits to healthcare providers, doctors and hospitals.

President Obama and the left love to point to the Mayo Clinic as one of America's premier medical institutions and rightfully so. But the ADN reveals that the clinic lost $840 million on it's $1.7 billion worth of Medicare work. ADN notes that the loses that doctors and hospitals are being hit with because the government refuses to pay market prices for services to patients, many doctors and hospitals are limiting new patients on Medicare.

Obama's plans for a "public option" is supposed to "fix" the fact that doctors are limiting Medicare patients, but ADN shows that the policy will make matters worse.

It’s just a little bit dumber than “comprised of.”

No, you’re not the only one. When someone misspells it, you have a long way to prove to me your not an idiot when you do that.

Same thing when people mispronounce “ask” as “ax”. God that bugs the crap out of me. And apparently I have been called a racist for calling people idiots for pronouncing that word wrong, since I guess it is heavily used in the black community that way. But wrong is wrong; and it needs to be corrected. And not all black people pronounce it that way, just the idiots.

When I hear that, I automatically deduct 50 I.Q. points.

We are headed from disaster to catastrophe if this passes. The Gov. will deny any health care and prescription coverage to anyone of 65 with the goal of reducing the aged and reducing Gov. spending.

What a loss. I know 2 kids that graduated w/ my daughter from UNC Chapel Hill and are now enrolled in medicine. I told them they would be better off driving a truck.

Going after the insurance companies is like putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound; it’s a surface fix.

Medicare and Medicaid are blank checks, and both are CRAWLING with fraud. (this from my mom, who’s been a nurse for the past 33 years and is in administration.)

Interestingly enough, there was a gentleman on the news last night that didn’t just validate this, he said, and I quote, “public healthcare isn’t sustainable”. I wish that I could remember his name- he was an Asian gentleman, a M.D., and a university president.

Some Hispanic kid at the grocery store said the word “Veggables”, with no “T”. I happened to tell his boss while complaining about being overcharged by the same kid, his boss gacve me a look like I was being offensive.

No worse than the “usual suspects” at the library telling their homies that they are at the “libary”.

I live in Pittsburgh (and love it) but was not born here. Homegrown Pittsburghers constantly drop the infinitive 'to be'...."this needs done" or "the floor needs swept"

Drives me crazy. lol Have you ever read Eats, Shoots & Leaves ?

You know, I really have to agree. When I read a piece and find one misspelled word, even if I agree with everything else in it, even if the sentiment and facts are right otherwise... why, heck, I say ALL of it is garbage. Why ONE misspelled word invalidates EVERYTHING!! You are right, man. We mindless pedants have to stick together on this stuff, ya know? I say if a book or magazine has a typo... THROW IT OUT. If a text book has an error, the WHOLE FIELD OF STUDY is invalid! Heck, even if a Bible has a printing error, GOD MUST NOT EXIST! I mean making sure one word is right means everything... RIGHT? right?!

The title is wrong. It should be, “Spelling errors drive otherwise lucid members of the FReeRepublic community boinkers”.

Or, “Mispelled words loose many from their moorings”.

Or, “Many pasters loose opportunity to ax questions about losses detailed in axcellent article about Mayo Clinic’s fiscal relationship with the federal government”.

I know a primary care physician who says Medicare always pays every claim without question and therefore he is for the democrat plan to overhaul the system.

He voted for Barrack and refuses to discuss it. He knows that I think Barry Soetoro’s plan sucks and he wants to remain distant from alternate opinions.
