To call someone a racist can be a cheap way to shut down all debate. As Andrew Breitbart correctly noted on Bill Mahers show, calling a person a racist is the worst thing you can call a person in this country. Strangely, however, it is a charge that is often flung around without any evidence whatsoever. Check out how Wilson is branded a racist pig here.
Take the case of Congressman Joe Wilson, whose intemperate You lie! outburst is still prompting much angst on the Left and adoration on the Right. He was clearly wrong to shout what he did. Theres a case for saying that he had a point on the substance, as I blogged here, but thats irrelevant he was disrespectful of the office of the President and breached congressional rules of decorum. He should have apologised, he did and the apology was accepted.
That should have been the end of the story. But no, there seems to be an eager determination to paint Wilson as racist. Its possible that he is. Who knows? I have never met him and I cant get inside his head. But I have no evidence that he is.
For some, however, the fact that he is white, a Republican and from South Carolina seems to be enough. There seems to be precious little else that NYT columnist Maureen Dowd cites in this piece.
Ive always thought that Dowd is an acerbic wit and a great writer. But after a healthy degree of scepticism during the campaign shes now nailed her colours to the mast as an Obamamaniac. Check out this IrishCentral.com interview with Dowd by Niall ODowd in which she described Obama as doing really well and is elegant, intelligent, well-spoken. She contrasts him with George W. Bush thus: From the

VERY little actually is ...
Hey Maureen, I understand they found some kneepads that Monica Lewinsky left behind from the Clinton adminstration. I bet if you tried them on they would make your new position more comfortable...
As a person living in the bay area, I must say I know far more racist liberals than I do conservatives. I suppose I can’t speak for the more conservative areas of this nation, but I HIGHLY doubt we dislike Harry Reid because he’s white...so the same with Obama.
I could careless what he is (racially speaking), just how he behaves. And if I can’t say I disagree with him based on that and not be called a racist...then what use is there in debate/differences!?
Might as well call me a witch and burn me.
Not a good title to the post.
..........and Jimmy Carter said what??
The fact that Thomas Sowell’s articles get heaps of praise has everything to do with character and content, and not color.
No racists here. Just freedom lovers.
Well that's good to know!/s
I wonder if Obamanation sitting in a church preaching Black Liberation Theology is "racist"?
We would not approve of a socialist no matter what the color. That will not work for most Americans. you are gonna redistribute what?
That is peachy. What is your point?
Profiling 101
However if the libtards continue to try to make this all about race they may just succeed and if black folks end up looking at white hoods again they may have no one to blame but themselves.
