Not all criticism of Barack Obama is racist

To call someone a racist can be a cheap way to shut down all debate. As Andrew Breitbart correctly noted on Bill Maher’s show, “calling a person a racist is the worst thing you can call a person in this country”. Strangely, however, it is a charge that is often flung around without any evidence whatsoever. Check out how Wilson is branded a “racist pig” here.

Take the case of Congressman Joe Wilson, whose intemperate “You lie!” outburst is still prompting much angst on the Left and adoration on the Right. He was clearly wrong to shout what he did. There’s a case for saying that he had a point on the substance, as I blogged here, but that’s irrelevant – he was disrespectful of the office of the President and breached congressional rules of decorum. He should have apologised, he did and the apology was accepted.

That should have been the end of the story. But no, there seems to be an eager determination to paint Wilson as racist. It’s possible that he is. Who knows? I have never met him and I can’t get inside his head. But I have no evidence that he is.

For some, however, the fact that he is white, a Republican and from South Carolina seems to be enough. There seems to be precious little else that NYT columnist Maureen Dowd cites in this piece.

I’ve always thought that Dowd is an acerbic wit and a great writer. But after a healthy degree of scepticism during the campaign she’s now nailed her colours to the mast as an Obamamaniac. As a person living in the bay area, I must say I know far more racist liberals than I do conservatives. I suppose I can’t speak for the more conservative areas of this nation, but I HIGHLY doubt we dislike Harry Reid because he’s white...so the same with Obama.

I could careless what he is (racially speaking), just how he behaves. And if I can’t say I disagree with him based on that and not be called a racist...then what use is there in debate/differences!?

I saw this on BBC News, and instantly recognised what they're trying to do.

They've done this here in Britain for years, they use someone famous/important/respected to introduce Race into the argument in an effort to destroy the argument based on Social embarrassment.

It doesn't wash here anymore, people just get really angry now when people in office start playing the Race Card, and it sure shouldn't work in America!

You should escalate the issue, and start lobbying Congress/Senate at the restrictions put on the elected member. He's an official elected by the people to represent you, if they censor him, the people are not being represented.

They're trying to get the upper hand to make this issue go away, Americans should take the power from them by not accepting this. Don't step back now, you're on the verge of Revolution!

The sad fact is that whites have worked very hard for decades toward eleiminating white racism. Unfortunately we didn't realize that the "racist ground" we were leaving behind was being occupied by blacks as fast as we were leaving it. The reality is that there haven't been white hoods for decades.

However if the libtards continue to try to make this all about race they may just succeed and if black folks end up looking at white hoods again they may have no one to blame but themselves.
