Yes We Can Sell Out! (Media Turns Blind Eye)

"A government-supported artist is an incompetent whore!" -- Robert A. Heinlein, Stranger in a Strange Land

It's been more than 24 hours since BigGovernment went live with their report on how the Obama administration used the National Endowment for the Arts to push their agenda, specifically for health care. I don’t know about you, but this turns the hair on the back of my neck straight up.

There is a certain creepiness behind this whole scenario. Take the opposite stand if you will for one moment. Imagine if President Bush, in the run up to the Iraq War, had asked the NEA to create Pro War art and songs. The whole mess would never have gotten past the initial email invite before there was an uproar from the liberal community and the press. They would be justified as well. This is not the purpose behind the National Endowment for the Arts.

Quote from a related article...

"Courrielche said the now ubiquitous Obama 'Hope' poster by artist Shepard Fairey and musician will.i.am's 'Yes We Can' song and music video were offered as 'shining examples' of the artist group's [NEA's] clear impact on Obama's landslide election."

“I wanted to make an art piece of Barack Obama because I thought an iconic portrait of him could symbolize and amplify the importance of his mission. I believe Obama will guide this country to a future where everyone can thrive and I should support him vigorously for the sake of my two young daughters. I have made art opposing the Iraq war for several years, and making art of Obama, who opposed the war from the start, is like making art for peace. I know I have an audience of young art fans and I’m delighted if I can encourage them to see the merits of Barack Obama.
